I love doing them, but I find that when I go really heavy, I get pains/tweak my extensor muscle in my forearm.
I tried doing reverse hammers (I am not sure that is what they are called) where I am in the exact same position as when I do skullcrushers but instead of an ez curl bar I am holding dumbells in each hand.
Since my palms are facing each other, there is far less strain on both my wrists and forearms.
Feels like a good substitute and is actually quite difficult; was wondering what other's thoughts were on this movement.

Close-Grip Bench Press and Dips work well too.
Feb 1, 2013 (started getting serious)/Current maxes at bw of 156-162lbs
Bench 205x3 (went back up about two inches before touching chest)/300
Squat 230x5 (half squat)/350 (below parallel)
Deadlift 185x5/475
Cutting [ ]
Bulking [ X ]
