    Is Pre-Workout unhealthy?

You read how Red Bull is unhealthy, and every now and then read articles on how people died from drinking it.

Is pre-workout the same as Red Bull, and does it cause excess strain on your cardiovascular system?

I am about to order some Nutrex Hemo Rage as I've read good reviews on it.

People died from it cause they didn't follow safety protocols and drank too much at once. Energy drinks/powders can be safe as long as the directions are followed and you don't have any medical conditions.

I've been drinking energy drinks and PWO for many years now. I consider myself to be healthy and the doctors tell me the same. Don't over do them and you should be fine. I stay away from the ones that are high in sugar.

Everything In moderation. More is not always better when it comes to pre workouts. Once you feel like the recommended serving is not giving you that boost, then take a stim break.

If its used in too high dosage and used for too long I think it can be unhealthy. So use in moderation and take time off stimulants in my opinion. 150-300 mgs a day caffiene is probaly okay, depending on your weight.

Give maniac a try its a nice pre-workout with not too much stimulation http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/ai/maniac.html

For me, strong Coffee does it.

Make sure you you're in the suitable condition (no heart disease, no pregnancy) before taking it.

Also make sure you take occasional break from pre-workout supplements, as your body gets used to it, therefore it loses its effectiveness over time.
I don't workout to be fit...

I workout because I REFUSE to remain AVERAGE !!!
I workout because I REFUSE to be just like everybody else !!!

Read about the specific product you want to consume. Read about the active and non active ingredient list.
Find out what the ingredients in the product are. Each PWO is a different mix. One may contain that 1 herb that sets you off while being non affecting everyone who has answered this thread so far.

This is why there are disclaimers on most supplements. They don't know you and how you will react.
