protein carb ratio

what does having an equal protein to carb ratio do? does it have something to do with how fast the carbs digest and therefore you get less fat?

No, although protein and fats do slow carbohydrate absorbtion. They are the same because people have found that that ratio supplies them with enough protein/carbs for muscle repair and energy production. Normal diets usually have the majority of their cals coming from carbohydrates, then protein, but their goal is not muscle building.

I use a 40/40/20 ratio because while bulking it helps me maximize my lean muscle gains while minimizing fat gains.
