    Starting an online fitness website

Basically I'd like to create a web site (half way done already) where I can be like a PT or fitness coach and help people, it would be free so i could get the idea of it, dealing with clients their needs and etc... just like most ifbb competitors offer online coaching. id start of with just posting random adds on social media helping people for free and developing my knowledge. So basically what i'm asking is if anyone is doing something similar, would they have any advice to share in pretty much any area? because the way I imagine this is a person emails me ''' Hey saw your add I want to lose x amount of weight in x amount of time'' I email them back saying id be happy to help chat with them maybe do a skype convo to introduce yourself ( or what would be the best way to actually contact them) then id write up a weight loss program so weights, cardio etc.. continuously offer nutrition advice and motivational support and do this for a while. But i just wanna ask people and see what they think of this idea??

how good are you at web design? do you have the funds to pump into the project? What is your experience level with personal training? I've been doing this around 5 years and i'm considering something similar.

And you're going to do this for free?

And are you in any qualified to give advice to people who are trying to participate and compete or lose weight? Or have you done some IFBB shows yourself as an athlete? Do you think people are just going to ask for random fitness advice from someone who doesn't really know what they are talking about but just likes to work out?

Has to be one of the most bizarre postings on this forum in a long time.

Yeah it will be free and no I have no competition experience, ill offer advice on weight training, nutrition and other related areas. You'd be surprised at how many people have no knowledge of anything even what a carbohydrate is and ill start helping out with basics etc... there are plenty of things like this, such as tumblr health posts which offer advice and people genuinely lose weight and many other social media sites with people helping others.

You MUST factor in Time Vs Return.

The amount of time you are going to put into it (plus cost of Social Media adverts)

    Vs

What are you going to get out of it?

If I put even an ounce of energy or an hour of time into doing something I want a return on my investment.

Saying that, If you are happy to give up your time for free then go ahead. The satisfaction of helping people may be your ROI.

    Good luck.

My websites get a lot of website traffic. Few ideas for you
    1. think about who your visitors will be - beginners, advanced, men, women etc?
    2. Help people. Answer their questions
    3. think like your readers. what are they interested in?
    4. make your website easy to navigate. People dont care about "fluff" they want the answers and they want to get them easily
    5. Answer comments when you get them. lots of bloggers dont answer questions
    6. your website should be a blog and it should use wordpress. I have a tutorial on this at my personal site
    7. your website name should be easy to spell and catchy.

    hope some of this helps

Here's a few comments from my blog. They are just a couple of the dozens I get every day. This is why people don't answer comments... they're 99.9% spam and any real ones get buried.

    "Comment:
Can i use page search engine optimization in my blogger site?"

"You wonder who posted this comment on your website? Just search in google for: xRumer submitter 4 elites - you will find out how to promote your site, business on thousands of websites a day, increase traffic and sales dramatically!"

    or my personal favorite:

    "Comment:
    bologna spaccio woolrich"

so yes, I do not bother reading or commenting on the hundreds of comments I get a week.

The days of build it and they will come are gone. Great content is important, but how are people going to find you. Definitely think about your audience and how you're going to bring them to your site the first time. If you put a lot of time and effort to make great content then they will come back, but like Jeremy said, Return On Investment...

If you train locally, then you'd be better throwing together group classes, give a seminar, etc.

If you train online, then really focus on your niche.

Be very careful!!! you maybe setting yourself up trouble!!! You are NOT Certified as a Trainer! You are NOT a Registered dietitian/nutritionist! you have only been working out for about a year! If someone follows our "advice" and gets hurt they may want to pursue legal action! Be very careful !

Good idea but be careful of offering free services. Once you go down that road, it hard to get off. How many of us would stop using Google if they started to charge per search?
