Dunno, i stuff myself just to maintain 237 pounds and i feel disgusted eating large fatty meals because I know how ****ty it will make me feel and there is no point to it, also when I look in the mirror and im getting fat i always take some measures even when im depressed/problems etc. I guess that part of their brain doesnt work like mine or isnt there.

Was about 40 lbs overweight a couple of years ago. Didn't lift either. You basically stop exercising and start eating a lot and never keep track of it. Some days I'd go to an all you can eat place and really go to town. Now the thought of doing that horrifies me. About 240 to 193 currently. Not super obese but I was headed there.

Extremely sedentary lifestyle(walking for no more than 35minutes a day. Your big meals, are tiny meals. A big meal for me is 1kg chicken and 2kg of rice... and maybe another footlong from subway or 2 and a protein shake loaded with sugar and 2-3 more bananas. You tell me what your "big" meals look like. Eat that 4 times a day.

Its easy to metabolize all of that when you're young, when you get older your body changes. I used to be able to eat anything and everything and was still a stick figure.

At it's most extreme... like I posted in another thread, how do you get fat and then decide, hmmm I'm going to keep eating? Each country should have a place called Fat Island, whenever a citizen goes over a certain weight (excluding disorders), they have to serve 3 months of extreme and intense weight loss and strength programs.

Well I know 10 years ago I could eat 2-3k cals a day and not gain weight. Now I can probably still do 2k but at 3k I would be gaining. Even with exercise I'm not as active as I was.
Combination of not moving enough, eating too many calories and lack of self-respect or they just buy into the cultural phenom where we're having fat acceptance pushed on us.
Even my fkin' girlfriends will basically imply I have an eating disorder because I am skinnier now than I was in high school.** Eternal Jimmies Crew **

Its not diet, its being sedentary.
If instead of sitting on the couch watching tv they walked around and went to the gym/did sports theyd be in good shape.
The benefits of exercise are too good to pass by.“No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training…what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

I'd go for childhood... my obese cousin had a baby and the baby was a fine healthy weight but because of the food given to bebe, now she's a five year old 7 stone tank. Srs. I was there and saw her forced to finish her adult plate of white carbs at 4 years old and I just knew history would repeat itself. Lack of education, parenting and insecurities/10

A lot of y'all are still young and have time to exercise which helps. I honestly can't understand how younger people can let themselves get fat. I work with some guys who are at work 14-16 hours a day and get called in all the time on weekends plus they have families so really they just don't have time to work out and a lot of their meals are take out.

Eating "big" meals of rice and chicken and all that **** isn't going to make you obese, but it is a lot of food. Generally it's people who either can't afford or don't know how to eat well. IE the guy who goes for a box of donuts for breakfast, goes to his desk job, goes to macdonalds for lunch, then goes out and eats at chilis or tgif or some place and has some beers. It's not hard if you think about it.

I used to be obese... When I left the Marines, I was all kinds of screwed up mentally and phsically...all I did was eat and drink till I passed out wake up and repeat the process...I left the Marines in 08 and this was Mar of 2010...it don't take long...plus I love food. And lets point out that that my newborn son I'm holding, damn near 400lbs and still smashing

Fat parents most of the time raise fat kids
it's really in the end as simple as too much food and not enough moving. Healthy kids can run and play and have fun, a fat kid isn't having fun once there is much movement involved. So they move less, and eat more, get bigger, move even less, eat even more.
Also OP, you're 175lbs, if you aren't accurately tracking your calories I got some bad news...
Back when I was 150lbs I would swear up and down I ate a ton and just wouldn't gain weight. Sure i'd eat whole pizza's to myself for 1 meal, but averaging my calories out in a week, i just wasn't eating enough.Free Men Don't Ask
