Here's the problem with the rep system (srs)

It eliminates freedom of thought and expression. High-rep miscers hold way too much weight in how things run on these forums and your rep power is a direct indicator of how other miscers will interact with you. Some examples:

1.) The higher your rep power, the less likely another miscer is to argue with you in fear of being negged. This allows high rep miscers who're actually terrible people a la Ted Nugent or BobbyDigitalwhateverthefuk to run around posting offensive garbage without anyone having the balls to step up to them.

- It also creates a culture in which disagreement is not allowed. Miscers are babies who cannot handle the fact that people are different from them and whenever someone DOES offer a dissenting opinion they can almost always expect negs from someone, somewhere.

2.) High Rep Miscer makes a lame thread with a lame opinion = multiple pages of people agreeing with him and sucking him off. Low Rep Miscer does the same thing = 6 posts of "OP is a *******" and negs before thread dies.

3.) Mods have often bent the rules and abused their power on this forum for chits and giggles and even though many miscers will be there to witness the occurrence, they won't do chit or will even support the mod who is blatantly in the wrong in fear of the almighty mod neg.

4.) Blatant system abuse from other members. Rarely ever do people get negged for the right reasons, namely rule breaking or trolling. Rather, you see innocent miscers getting negged into oblivion because he made a thread asking for girlfriend advice and refuses to post pics since it's...you know...his fuking girlfriend. Or female miscers getting negged simply for existing, or for refusing to provide spoon pics, or for refusing to post provocative pictures of themselves for all the virgins to fap to. Stuff of that nature.

I genuinely think that this forum would be a much, much, better place if the rep system was eliminated altogether or was heavily reworked. It'd allow for more of a free flow of discussion and not just guys shaking their heads "yes" at everyone to try and accumulate more green squares.
