Depends what you like, I found databases boring as phuk so I didn't care for it but networking is interesting and high salary although network programming has a ton of different standards that you have to abide by.

you don't need to know any math beyond intermediate algebra depending on your purposes, just make sure you are a master of it.

Of course knowing ASM will give you an edge since it is the foundation of all programming languanges.
I'm currently in my x86 programming class and we just moved to C from Nasm. It is great to know C but I don't really see how knowing x86 programming will majorly effect my programming in something like java. I mean I guess I understand memory management a little better, but I dunno jeff.

no, you can self learn calc over the winter break in 2 weeks. you dont need to know definite integrals for calc based physics, just derivatives and anti derivatives, which is the easiest thing in the world to learn.

watch patrickjmt on youtube. search his videos for the calc I ones.

ya, its a good choice, but you still need a solid programming base. any CS program will prepare you for any job choice you choose, granted you take the proper electives jr/sr year. the core classes will be plenty of enough preparation.

My friends with liberal arts degree who have graduated a year ago still can't find a job. When I'm here, one semester from graduating and getting job offers. They all said it's been a waste of time and money.

Was thinking about going straight to a masters in CS. Anyone here done this?

Mechanical Engineering brah checking in, I knew like basic programming from an early age, sitting on a computer wasn't exciting enough for me so I went into Steam/Nuclear Plants with my Mechanical Engineering Degree. Still in school but got a few sweet internships waiting for the next two summers and then a job out of college as long i don't mess up any classes.

How's CS in terms of credits over the undergraduate course? Im taking 184 for my Mech E degree

just gotta do practice problems man. it starts to come down to repetition and you just spit the answers out once you see the problem since theres only a certain number of variations they can test

If you get the chance you should get a job with the DoD and become a contractor. I heard they make 6 figures when sent overseas for 8 months and its tax free.
