Hey guys,
3 weeks ago I broke my PR and did 353lbs (160kgs) deadlift. (i lifted it not that hardly..)
Yesterday I went for 365lbs (165kgs) and i failed. At least i tried...
But i think that the reason was because of my grip, i have chitty grip strength. <--- The bar just slid out of my hands, = grip gave out before i did..
Do you guys have any tips on how to improve grip strength ?
Would buying a straps fix this problem ?
Thx guys.

Put straps away, and drop your deadlift to only the ammount you can pull without straps. Work this weight back up to 365 and i bet you it wont give out. Grip strength increases very rapidly and shouldnt take much longer than a month or two to get grip up. Include things like SLDL for sets of 10 without straps, and shrugs without straps. When you feel your grip slipping immediately put down the weight and re grip and finish the set. Dont let the bar slide in your hand at all. period.
you can also finish with static barbell holds.Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA)

thanks, gonna see how much it is + shipping..
well as i said i deadlifted 353lbs 3 weeks ago, grip strength really wasn't a problem.. maybe it's due to the fact that i wore gloves --'
great advice. gonna try that on my barbell shrugs.
algo gonna try those static barbell holds ! never thought of that.
thanks,

Other than mixed grip, chalk, liquid grip, or hook grip as options to be prioritized, using straps can still be a good idea.
Letting your grip be the limiting factor when your back and legs can still pull more is just stupid
If you pull more with straps, you'll pull more strapless too as time goes on. With that said, I'm not saying to entirely go straps, I personally go strapless on warm ups and throw them on for either high rep working sets or heavy singles/triples where I don't have my liquid grip on me already.315b/405s/500d @ 168 bw (July-August 2013)

good thoughts, i really don't know if i should invest in some straps or some chalk..
the bar didn't slip because of the sweat ! that's the thing. my grip just gave out before my back and legs did :/
that's also a good idea, thanks
