$345,000 with no carport, this is what you work your whole life for AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE! OI! OI! OI!


-A three bedroom 'Newly Designed' house in a suburb like Caroline Springs. You get a bigger house here living da Aussie Dream. A house in the middle of nowhere, marginalised employment opportunities, no adequate transport, no adequate medical facilities and surrounded by other poor famlies, the marginalised and housing commission folk who are equally as angry and as bitter about everything as you, you'll wanna be a black belt if you take this option. There will be no good schools, it will be hard to find jobs and your future offspring will also be doomed by this lack of education and opportunities. Case & Point: Broadmeadows, hasn't changed in 40 years.





-If you end up two standard deviations away from the average income and also have a partner with a similar income you hit the absolute jackpot of getting to live in a post WW2 Bungalow reasonably close to the city and not surrounded by anti socials. Greater schooling access, services, facilities, transport and opportunities all come with your crappy WW2 Bungalow.




If you are Chinese and have a few million from China where you have a 'Business' where everyone 'Works' 15 hours shifts and gets paid $1.50 an hour you officially win the Australian housing market and can live wherever you want. Buying Australia iz so muk easier than bombing it!

If you are reading this and a young professional think about going to the States. 100k in America gets you three bedrooms and a swimming pool, and if you are looking for your place in life at least leave the country on travel to see what you could be missing out on before you settle down and spend the next 30 years slogging it out for your little piece of the Australian dream.

OP is buying a house in LA with savings from an Australian job, OP is moving to America to live and own his own home before 30. Op will come back to Australia is he gets sick and needs health care or becomes apart of America's infamous working poor. OP is tired of Rupert Murdoch making Australian Property seem good. And if you are young and QUALIFIED and not tied down you should think about America.
If you however are not qualified you need to stay here. America treats their poor worse than we do and an unqualified Australian will almost certainly be swallowed by the wolves and end up apart of the working poor and feeling trapped and actually living worse. If you have a degree and can get qualification recognition in America or run some kind of tradie business Carpentry then it's a good option for you (for dat dere CEOS taxes are also less)

Yep and it's not like you're going to WW3. If America doesn't work brah you just come to your family and friend support systems. And if it does workout you live a richer more fulfilling life. I'm not mad I am spelling out the realities for those who have to make a choice like myself.

I'd be mad if I just started a 25 year mortgage though, If a housing crash can happen in America & Japan you'd be nervous. Will bump this thread in 10 years when you have a absolutly massive debts and a crappy mediocre old house that cant cover 1/4th of it see: Subprime.

American housing values returned to where they ALWAYS should of been dictated by the market not by the government. Australian housing prices will also return at some point. Not waiting for the day though.

living in most state capitals is expensive. most of the people i know in their 20s who whinge about how expensive stuff is are too busy spending their money travelling and getting drunk every weekend.

Hong Kong housing system,(starting with job earnings, $30 per hour minimum(US $4) for those who work chitty jobs at restaurants lol, for clerks you get paid $10000 to $12000 as startings after high school graduation after working 10 hours a day sometimes you have to work on Saturdays also :s(US$1289-$1547)

Apply for a government buildings where you can live in a slightly larger flat with low monthly flat bill(have to wait 5-6 years and must be married and have 2-3 kids for a these kinds of flats)Per month is $2800(quite quiet most of the times)



If you don't have a government flat then the small buildings in this pic will be your best bet( Lowest per month you have to pay per month is $4000(a person mostly earns $10000 a month in Hong Kong) and the house is really really chitty(dirty stairs,stray black cats and the smell of their chit everywhere) and really small also compared to government buildings.(LOUD NOISES FROM CARS AROUND THE STREET)



And the best houses of all are like probably $500,000 or more or you can stay there also by paying $45,000+ a month for it and they're far away from the city(no pix can't find it but have seen a few they're so fckin beeyutiful)
I actually like those aussie apartments, they're bigger then the ones in hong kong.

I honestly don't plan to move out of my kick ass family house until I find an awesome place that is nothing that the OP describes, it can take 10 years but idc. May even inherit the house, who knows.

The properties op describes are pretty dull tbh. North west suburbs are a nice place to live, but expect to travel 1-2 hours to the city during peak. 20 minutes to the city on off peak though through toll high ways.
