Here are some pics of my gym. It's located in a 600 Sq. Ft. room on the first floor of my house. Everything is Parabody except the Leg Extension/Curl machine, which is Body Solid. I've had the gym for about 15 years as pictured, except for the Smith, which I added about 8 years ago.

Wow! Just wow! Awesome home gym! If it were mine I'd turn into a recluse, load up on some Jacked and have at it for hours a day.

I will comment on IW's gym in a sec; I am just searching for my eyeballs as they popped out while I was looking at the photos.

That's just amazing. My first thought was, "wow that's a ton of money spent"... but on reflection it is a lot less than some people would spend putting a home theatre or soemthing in the same room.

Does the structure take this much weight ?

Example weights hitting the floor etc.

In the US, the first floor is ground-level.

But building codes here are such that even if the gym were above ground, there'd be no problem.

This is the local outdoor gym - home to all who train there - you can follow it up with a sand run - and a swim in the Pacific ocean waves...

As a reply to PMs, thanks for the comments; they're appreciated. Total cost was about $9K; to duplicate the gym today would be about double that amount, new. Fifteen years ago, dumbbells were only 40 cents per pound; today, locally, over $1.00 per. Plate weight cost was/is about the same. Just about everything was purchased new since there was no used-equipment market back then in my area; to this day the only things that come up for sale, second-hand around here , are blowflexes, Thighmasters, and those janky electric ab-belt gizmos.

Based on gym membership cost for my wife and I over the 15 years, I broke even a couple of years ago, and now my gym is paying me. Maintenance cost on the equipment in all that time has been about $2.00 for a can of lithium spray lube for the few moving parts found in the equipment. Parabody stuff just doesn't wear out. And neither does iron.

    ETA:
It might also be worth mentioning that everybody who builds a home gym starts somewhere. My start was a $29.00 DP bench and vinyl "weight" set which included a hollow metal pipe for a "barbell," purchased from K-Mart 21 years ago when I first began bodybuilding.

    No brain, no gain.

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon
