to take my training to another level, but tonight we are going to a sweet 16 and I know it is going to be really hard NOT to drink.
Any ideas?

Drinking doesn't affect my training one way or the other, to be honest.
I've lifted most of my adult life. Sometimes I've drank quite heavily, other times not as much, and for some periods I abstained all together.
Never noticed any difference in my lifting...
Hell, you know the night before my comp in August I was drinking with you all night and I kicked ass.Insta: flexjs

I don't know if drinking affects lifting. When I started to get back in shape a couple years ago I stopped drinking simply because I wanted to lose weight and I didn't want the extra calories....after a while I realized I didn't miss it and I don't even think about it anymore unless I read something like this or someone mentions something about me not drinking anymore......who knows maybe someday I will again but at this point I don't even feel the need or desire to
I spend a lot of time in bars too...I play music professionally....I just drink club soda with a lime....no big deal...."You got soul and everybody knows that its alright".....Curtis Mayfield........"Eat to be strong weights and reps"....Me....."leave the gun take the cannoli".....Fat Clemenza
"Believin is alright just don't believe in the wrong thing"....Sonny Boy Williamson

Honestly if your really serious about giving it up for awhile to focus on training then your first going to have to realize that there almost daily reasons why you could have a drink or two. Today it's a sweet sixteen, tomorrow hey it's football and who doesn't enjoy a few while watching football, then for you there's pool league. You really just have to practice a little will power and say no thanks.
It's not your beliefs that make you a better person, it's your behavior.

Hope you do well BH.
