Realistic 12week Strength Gains on Deadlift

    Hey,

I am training a client atm who wants to increase deadlift by 15kgs in the next 12weeks from 195kgs - 210kgs

I would say this is quite achievable.

    Any body think different?

    Maybe?

Totally depends on client stats, training history, etc.

    pretty much this^^

With proper instruction on form and programming 15kg in 12 weeks is nothing! I had a female client deadlifting 95lbs to 150lbs 1RM on a 5 week D.U.P training program. Now not everyone will have the same results this just gives you an idea

depends on dedication and if the client is eating right for strength. I would find a deadlift program , they always works well.

of course some people are not built well for deadlift, short arms, genetically, just like some people arnt build well for the bench press, long arms. Thats not to say you cant get a nice dadlift or bench, depending on genetics, genetics are a big part of certain lifts

    What is his training age?

    What is his current bodyweight?

What is his training experience/consistency like over the last 3-6 months?

It's 5kg a month. If the correct answers are answered, you can do it. Could easily be plugged into 3 x 531 cycles over 12 weeks with a 5kg increment each month.

If its a novice or intermediate, it will be a piece of cake with a good program. If it's an advanced lifter- it depends.

He is 47 94kgs and has been training frequently over the last 6 months for powerlifting - just feels his deadlift is weak.

he wants to take it from 190kgs to 205+

Probably refers to Wendler 5/3/1 which is a program designed to help powerlifters increase their 1RM maxes.

And yes, you can likely do it - but do you have any prior experience teaching people to increase their deadlift who are already pulling that amount? If not you might want to refer them to a qualified coach. It's entirely possible to get an additional 15kg with a simple adjustment to form if their form is not optimal already.

Not as such no, but I need to do it for my portfolio, I will be working with him in Darren Saddlers(1 of worlds strongest men) gym, so he will be on hand with all experience.
