I have about 100-150 gram of oatmeal (+ protein and fat) ~ 1.5 hour before my workout. I feel great on it, lot's of energy.

So if you feel good on it and it fits your macros, go for it.

If oatmeal allows you to have productive workouts then go for it.

For myself, oatmeal would not do that. A cup of coffee would do that for me and that's the fuel I need pre-workout.

    Experiment and see for yourself.

I guess it is. Sometimes when I don't feel like eating brown rice, I eat a cup of oatmeal instead. Pretty good stuff

Yup. Personally I like being full during a workout along with a pre workout shake. If it works for you, go for it.

I like BCAAs (or protein powder) PWO. I have noticed that it helps with energy.

Bottom line: try it and see if it works. Everyone has their own preferences.

I like oatmeal pre-workout. It really depends on what im in the mood for. I find if i eat carbs with lots of simple sugars then i tend to crash very fast. I try keep it pretty "Clean" around my workouts

Complex carbs before a workout make me tired because my stomach is working hard to break it down. I prefer oatmeal 4-5 hours before training and coffee within an hour. But hey that's just me.

They don't work for me as i bloat. For some reason they bloat me up and its not a comfortable thing pre-workout. I opt for something a little simpler. Sometimes I'll do some ezekiel bread with jelly, other times some grits with a banana, etc.

your preworkout meals are more a option of preference rather than necessity
if you like oats preworkout, have them. if you prefer to train fasted, do that instead. it's up to you.

provided you get sufficient nutrients inside you by the end of the day, the difference in body comp. is negligble regarding choice between preworkout nutrition.
