    Nightime protein shake?

I normally drink a protein shake about an hour before bed. My typical shake consists of 1 scoop protein, 1 tbsp natural peanut butter, and 1/2 a small banana.

This usually satisfies my intense peanut butter cravings, and gives me a little more fat, since I have trouble hitting that macro (versus my carbs, which are usually too high).

However, some days I splurge on dark chocolate almonds (yum!) mid-day and hit my fat macro (47g) before my shake. This usually means i'm a little low on carbs. On those days should I switch to a fruit shake or just go over on my fat intake? I've heard its not great to have a lot of sugar before bed, so I've been hesitant to do this.

Basically my question is, how much will like...10g of fat matter if I'm hitting all my other macros?

As long as you're hitting your total calories is doesn't matter what time you eat. Our bodies can't tell time and it doesn't make a difference in the end result.

Thanks for the input . Then, eating time aside, i guess itd be better to go a bit over my fat macro and hit my calorie goal than to do a higher carb shake and be exactly at my fat goal, but under on total calories?

it doesn't matter whether you hit your macros *exactly* or not, and total calorie intake at the end of the day is way more important than macros.

    I agree.

But I am more on the side of nutrition timing. As in don't eat before bed. But sometimes we have to and I do when I work late or go to bed early, there is just no way of getting around it.
