How does attacking work in D3 on console? Do you lock onto enemies and then have to select through all the enemies on screen to get the one you want or what?



Definitely slim chance. My whole basic class of 200 people 1/4 of those had Airborne contracts just about and only 1 went to the 173rd that I'm aware of. Tons got dropped (brb doing 100 pushups and they count 47) and most went to the 82nd, although some went to the 101st (non-Airborne unit) and a ton of other "normal" units. So it's definitely far from a guarantee.

Whats up US Soldiers. Quick question cause i see mixed answers online and do not trust my recruiter. If i get an infantry contract with airborne attached, as long as i pass airborne i will be put in a jump unit right?

The 173rd is my dream but I know theres no guarentee what jump unit id be sent to. Thank you.

101st Airborne Division isn't Airborne at all, it's Air Assault. As in we (I am in the 101st) go places in helicopters (supposedly). Remember We Were Soldiers? Air Mobile? Air Assault is the modern version of that. Even the name of the 101st is "101st Airborne Division - Air Assault". It just has Airborne in the name becasue of the history.

Here's how the army works:

lol well it was sort of different with us. Only 2 of us from basic were chosen to go to Vicenza, and lucky enoug, I was one of them but when we went to airborne school, a bunch of people pussy out of RIP, and ended up going to the 173rd. I think it was because they were 6 months on their way to deployment

Yep. After a couple years you just become numb to how messed up it is. I told one of my newer guys like this.

Boot: "Sarnt, how do you let all this stuff roll off your back. Doesn't it bug you?"
Me : "Remember in basic where your first few days you stand around waiting for nothing and it drives you crazy because you are just standing there?"
Boot : "yeah"
Me : "It's like after the first couple weeks you don't care how long you are standing there...you don't understand it, but you just know you are going to be standing there for some reason for way, way too long. That's how the bullchit is."


And then you get to a point where you realize how numb you are to the bullchit, and it just makes you angry inside.

If you go to airborne school in the summer, you have a better chance of going to the 173rd. I graduated airborne in 2011, all the grunts got sent to either Alaska or Italy. Half and Half it seemed, except for one unlucky SOB that went to the 82nd. Now the class after us, quite a few of them were sent to Drum, Colorado, and Kansas. It all depends on the luck of the draw.

BUT, Army is drawing down. The chance of going to the 173rd is smaller now than it ever was.

Whelp, looks like I'm finally going to leave. PCS counselor called, my visa returned. Then the moving company called (literally the moment after I got off the phone with work), and they are coming next week.

The kids I work with now aren't too bad. Couldn't function at home obviously but I've had way way worse. Like actively homicidal/suicidal kids, sexually maladapted kids, etc.
