    ? realistic time-scale to goal

been recently lifting 4-5 times a week. Was wondering what a realistic time-scale would be to reach beach body physique.

Well hard to say obviously as your goal is a bit subjective. In 6 months you could go from your current physique to looking pretty nice, however if you want a body that draws looks from everyone out on a beach that could take 2-5 years probably lol. That being said based on how you look right now I can tell you that there is no reason you should be lifting 4-5 times a week. I'm going to make the safe assumption that your routine is probably terrible for someone just starting out. Head on over the workout program section in these forums and get on a beginner routine like starting strength or All Pro's Beginner Routine. Oh and since you are currently on a crappy program I am going to make another safe assumption that your diet is out of order so check out the nutrition stickies as well. At your age you can probably make really fast progress *IF* you have a diet in check and a proven workout program, if not then well results won't be nearly as good or could even be nonexistent. Take advantage of your youth and get your diet and workout program in order, good luck!

dont worry about the time it takes, train til you get there. dont commit to a time frame, commit to a goal

The reason I ask is to have a vague reference point to judge whether or not I'm making adequate progress on achieving my goal. I assume people here have gone through transformations and would be able to provide a rough estimate on how long it should take.

    ^ This.
You have a lot of work to be done. It's fine to have an ultimate goal, but try to keep short term goals as well. You could look passable by next summer, and decent by summer 2015. Get your diet and training in check, intensity and consistency are key.
