Can one of the mods or bros aware me on the latest in rep rules? Last I understood, reps aren't allowed to mention their product unless another member mentions it first in a thread. Has that been redacted? I'm seeing a bunch of threads today with reps mentioning their product first (along with other recommendations). Don't want to get anyone in trouble, I just don't want to do it and get banned, etc.
Sorry to bring this up, I know these new rules are a pain for you guys with everyone whining about them.

Not really a pain. Most of the reps agree with them.
You can mention your product, but it should be a well thought out response to answer the OP's question, including other choices the OP might consider (bb.com ONLY products) as well.
If the thread is about one certain product, and yours is not mentioned, that is a no go.Krispy Kreme Krew Forever.

In generic "Recommend me a _____" threads you can promote your product as long as you give alternatives and WHY. Can't just be a general copy pasta product plus that has 5 paragraphs about yours and then "I also like xxx yyy and zzz". It should be more of a consultative process for the user. If specific products are mentioned in the OP then those reps can giver and other reps should kinda stay out of it.
You'd be surprised how much there is to sort through here. We're working on it. Just use the report feature to bring it to our attention instead of making a big deal about how certain companies are apparently immune to the rules.1175 @172

I've seen this quite a bit already. I just SMH.
If people really don't want to do it, then they should just step down. I've gotten PM's from regular users saying that following the rules has brought our company more attention due to a rep actually giving a **** about what the consumer wants.Krispy Kreme Krew Forever.

From a user perspective, I really enjoy when reps are posting within the rules. I always just skimmed past straight product slinging, but now that there is thought put into it it's actually interesting to read.
There is a lot of stuff that happens in the sup section that needs to be addressed. A large amount of it gets caught, but when there is this much of it some things are going to get missed. Just bring it to someone's attention and it will be addressed. The less reps getting away with breaking the rules, the better it is for reps following them.1175 @172

I'm just asking. Isn't the below (from the company rep rule thread) different than what you're saying above?
(c) Company Representatives may post in threads in furtherance of their company or product only when
(1) as a substantive product consultation for a user asking for a product recommendation (in this case, the rep must provide relevant knowledge on the product and why they are recommending it as well as include other similar products that would suit the user's goals);
To me, this would mean that I would have to discuss why my product fits what they are asking about and then list other products on bb.com that fall into the same category.*RCSS Rep*

he's just saying you have to give reasons why the other products would work as well. it doesnt need to be as descriptive and thought out but there needs to be some substance to it. like he said if you put 5 paragraphs into your product, you should expect 2 or 3 on each other one

No.. he's saying you can only promote yours if you give alternatives, and you have to provide reasons why for each product (both yours and the other alternatives.)
He's saying you can't give a full explanation of yours, but then only say "I also like X or Y." There has to be an explanation for each.NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist

The new rep rules are basically saying, "sell don't shill." People that came into threads who only posted about how great their product was, and even the ones who did it then tossed out the names of a couple of other companies haphazardly, made discussions nearly impossible. Not to mention it's gotten to the point where no one wants to even listen to reps anymore.
