I already have something close to the safety squat bar in the Elite Fitness Spider Bar. If I get a swiss or football bar, I'd likely go with the T-Grip bar (parallel angled grips) that I've been admiring for some time.
The T-Grip bar almost made the original list in the opening post, but I seem to be leaning towards getting something in Stainless Steel.

Actually, the first question I have for you, would be what bars do you already have?
Now, you've stated you already own the Ivanko OBX-20kg bar. The 3 ring powerlifting bar is absolutely perfect for an all around power bar. I would hesitate to recommend you the stainless steel version, though, simply because it will be very similar.
Since that's settled, the question is are you a competitive powerlifter? If yes, then does your fed use a general power bar or a deadlift bar? Having your very own deadlift is a very special thing indeed, especially if you're going to be in a lot of competitions. But the Arctic Wolfe Squat bar..... now that thing is a beauty. I've seen, but never used, the one at SuperTraining gym in Sacramento, and it looks wonderful. Long, thick, stiff. Maybe I should have used a better description.
It sounds like the Arctic Wolfe is what you really want, so why not go for it? Having that thick bar makes for more comfortable good mornings, as well.

Keith Wolfe's bars are very nice. I have a Stainless benching bar that was used in 2 meets. I use it when I am benching with chains, because of its width it is has alot of room on the sleeve. It has the same knurling pattern as the York power bars that he produced for York barbell back in the late 90s thru the early 2000s. I think it has a very solid feel, nice flex, and the sleeves spin smooth, but not to much. I heard his deadlift and squat bars are very nice too. If you check on York Craigslist there are a couple bars for sale from a guy who sells bars for them.

Is there any reason you wouldn't want to bench with a bar that has has extra space between the collars?

Just balance I would guess. I've never used longer bar to bench, but I imagine you would need a more stable and equal grip on either side. This might be a great way to train weakness in the bench. Just a theory.
I was told once that squat bars were specifically designed to fit the big wide monolifts and allow an outside grip. I honestly have no clue if this is true. Seems to make sense though (?)

I'm late to this discussion, but I wanted to reference my review of the OBSX-20kg-29mm since this is one of the bars you were considered. I do prefer it to the Ivanko black oxide bars because of the more standard knurl pattern. With the standard knurl pattern you are much less likely to scrape your shins while deadlifting. I mention this more in my review.

Personally I'd get the Ivanko OBSNB, since that's what I desperately want, but since you've already got a great Ivanko, I'd get the Iron Wolfe Elite Olympic bar. A great Olympic bar almost always makes a great powerlifting bar, but the opposite is rarely true.
I suppose you have so many bars that it doesn't make a difference, but I wouldn't want a bar that I could only ever use for one lift, and nothing else.
That's just my input.
Be sure to post pictures of whatever you get.

I'm not too sure about that. An Olympic bar will typically have a softer knurl, different knurl markings, be more flexible, lack a center knurl (aside from IWF comp bars), and may or may not have sleeves that are ribbed for bumper use and use bearings. I'm not saying it is impossible, I had a Pendlay bar that was a decent "all around" bar, but compared to a real powerlifting bar there was no comparison.
If I were looking at a new $500-1000 bar, the Elieko IPF spec bar would be my target, then I'd be looking at the Q bar from Quest Nutrition. I'd also like to own the 29mm Ivanko without the goofy knurling (is that the OBSX20?)()---() York Barbell Club #30 ()---()

Not sure really, it's just a bar that interests me. For an IPF certified bar the price is great and I've read the quest knurl is even more aggressive than the TPB. I've searched around for some older rare power bars such as the Mac Texas power bar and Malone power bar but haven't been able to find one. I've heard somewhere that the Q bar is a rebranded Malone bar so it's always been on my radar. I'm not saying it's the ideal bar for you, but just throwing it out there as something to look at.
I tried to buy their power bar a few weeks ago via their site and kept getting checkout errors. Then that $219 TBP deal came up in another thread so I just jumped on that.Last edited by GarageIron; 10-19-2013 at 08:03 PM.

I had never heard of Quest Nutrition but their bars look pretty sweet. Thanks GI.
This is a good thread. I've always wanted the Ivanko Power Bar but if you already have one I'd probably look at one of the Wolfe bars.....they're pure bad ass pieces of art.
I've been trying to stay away cause this damn forum makes me spend money. This thread certainly isn't helping.

I made a decision! It was a bit of a compromise, but one I think I'm going to be happy with. I wanted an Iron Wolfe bar, and was leaning heavily towards the Arctic Wolfe. However, I was having trouble parting with that much money for a bar I'd never seen. When RockCrshr pointed me towards the Iron Wolfe Prototype bars on Craigslist, I contacted the seller and purchased the Prototype Stainless Steel Squat Bar. Its not quite the Arctic Wolfe, but I'm sure it will work great for squats. I had to get special permission from my wife, since I haven't actually reached the goal that was suppose to trigger the purchase.
I may eventually end up with the Arctic Wolfe and the Alpha Wolfe, but I'm saving those purchases for another goal and another day.
Spec's. as follows: Stainless Steel, weight 55 pounds, length 100 1/2", sleeve length 21, space between the sleeves 55 1/2", bar grip diameter 1.185 (1 3/16ths inch), weight capacity 800 pounds.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #39 ▪█─────█▪

This is the best I will be able to do for a couple of weeks. When I get the bar I'll do a review and post more pictures.

Very nice - congrats!
Ive never heard of that bar before (Prototype Stainless Steel Squat Bar), does it mean its a prototype/first run for the rest of the bars they make or is that the name?
Did you get a good deal on it? Enjoy the bar.[]---[] Equipment Crew #6 []---[]
