Anyone looking to build a new rig, let me know.
I just got a refurbished board back from MSI after waiting a little while.
I already replaced it with a different board during the down time.
The refurbished board is for sale now.
MSI Z77 MPower: I'm asking $150 + shipping -- not negotiating.
It is under Warranty until 03/22/2106 + There is an extended ServiceNet Warranty until 03/22/2019.
All original software, manuals, warranty information, SLI bridge, Cables, and connectors are included.
It's a good deal for a refurbished board with the extended warranty.

That new video card rustles my jimmies in the best way physically possible...
Come cyber monday/January time frame I am likely now going to pick up a very nice card or a dual 660 ti's for a cheap price! Awesome timing for building my first rig. Can't wait to see how this price/quality ripples through the rest of the pricing schemes of current cards.
The only thing this makes me wonder is if I should change my previous plans of opting for the standard 1080p or if I should kick it up a notch. I fear that monitor prices won't reflect the advancements in the graphic cards for quite some time...and hopefully this kind of thing ripples through everything and I can pick up my monitors for cheap as well (going from a ~$750 laptop to anything is going to be a drastic improvement...). Think I'm just going to go the cheaper route and build the rig for 1080p and in a few years do a complete re-haul for *hopefully* cheaper prices on what is now "the highest tier".Last edited by watermanb; 10-23-2013 at 11:12 PM.
When you think you can't keep in mind:
"Lesser men have done greater things."
Men with less physical, mental, or potential abilities have produced greater outcomes.
Whatever the reason, lesser men have done greater things than whatever obstacles you have mistakenly convinced yourself you are unable to overcome.

im pleasantly surprised with my MSI Twin Frozr Radeon 7850 (2gb)'s performance in Skyrim. It's an old game, i know, but so is the card.
Max settings, native resolution (1920x1080), and it runs smooth as butter. Very content with that For such a cheap card ($130-140), the performance is unreal.
Might look at upgrading on Black Friday to a 7950 or something

Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.

WTF is that? Half of that makes no sense.
Titan beats 3-way SLI Titans? A single 770 beats 3-way SLI'd 770s? Medium settings? Note to self. Disregard videocardz.com
Tom's at least makes a little sense.

On that note, what a fcking beast of a card.

Do you guys think that with the performance/price ratio of this card will force the 780/Titan down to similar pricing? I bought a 7990 for 399 the other day and forgot that I need to get an Nvidia card for Shield. I love this 7990 performance is a beast but I will have to sell it to my buddy for the same price I bought it and head back to Nvidia camp. I just don't want to spend so much more for less if you know wut I mean. Hopefully the Titan drops a ton because this 7990 outperforms them lol.

Brahs, I have a Bequiet silent wings 2 as exhaust, which cost me like 20 quid. Should I replace it with a corsair one just so the red matches the rest of my system?

Well the 290x is certainly intriguing, and running at 94C you can cook your breakfast on it too!
I'm mildly regretting getting a 280x already for BF4 however I would probably just be falling into the money pit that is PC gaming and nothing being good enough. A 290x wouldn't really matter unless I had a 144hz monitor. So there's like $700 real quick.1LT

Except it will melt the insides of your computer and sounds like a hair dryer. Fast card, but the reference cooler is terribly inadequate for it. It will throttle down after gaming for a decent amount of time. An overclocked 780 still runs faster, quieter, cooler, and takes less power.

Function > form for all my builds.
That said, the corsair red fans are rather hngtastic and the both the SP/AF series fans they make are very nice. Is there anywhere else you could place your be quiet fans? push/pull on your cpu cooler? Intake from the bottom of the case?I ALWAYS rep back, just leave a link to one of your posts in the rep comment.

Not really. I have 4 of them as intakes already, along with 2 SP120's on my H100i
I could always sell it, but I'd rather just hold onto it, just incase. No doubt I'll end up building another system somewhere down the line and it'll come in handy.
Its only been in my rig for about a week lolMFC

660 is up on Amazon for $150 now...and I got an email this morning from Paypal saying I had unused funds sitting. Had $50 bucks sitting in there I didn't know about. Is this a sign to buy an unneeded second GPU?

Wouldn't get a 290x until a non reference cooler is released. Runs at 94 degress C under load and is louder than a jet engine.
