My ******** feed has been blowing up recently with posts from high school friends and such that have joined a branch of military. Don't get me wrong, I have an utmost respect for those who serve our country in combat, overseas, whatever. Here's my qualm:
The people that I KNOW in the military have for the most part not been overseas/in combat/any sort of danger and are posted in places in the middle of the United States fetching mail and doing whatever the phuck else they do for like 40+ hours a week.
Granted they've passed basic (lol seen the standards there) but MY REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THESE ARE THE ONLY SOLDIERS I SEE WHO ASK FOR RESPECT. ASK FOR IT.
Example from my ******** a few minutes ago. "I'm losing the good part of my 20s to serve my country and the ungrateful *******s who live in it aren't doing a damn thing that would be called "respectable" Do me a favor and keep paying your taxes. That's all you're good for"
Excuse me, while i'm really glad you've been in the Navy for two months and stationed in Missouri or whatever the phuck don't ask me to respect you.
I have friends who have gone overseas and been in combat, danger, really protect my country. THOSE INDIVIDUALS don't EVER say things like this. Ever. They do not demand my respect or ask for it, they receive it because of what they do.

This, I was friends on FB with the same type of people from HS. Defriended them so I don't have to see that chit.
Let's be serious here for a moment, an individual joins the military for one of three reasons
1. They need the money
2. They have some misguided sense of glory, and want to serve their country/protect their families
3. Genuinely have an interest in the military as a career and want to stay in the military for life.

Bad title, too long to read, no cliffs. I see a neg train coming.
I will say this. I have a guy that works at my police department that throws his military service in everyone's face. "blah blah when i was in Kosovo blah blah". Has his certificates an "medals" plastered all over the walls. One day out of curiosity I look up his job in the military.
AUTOMATED LOGISTICS SPECIALIST. Sounds important huh?
From army website job description
Unloads, unpacks, visually inspects, counts, segregates, pelletizes, and stores incoming supplies and equipment. Maintains stock locator system and administers document control procedures. Repairs and constructs fiberboard or wooden containers. Packs, crates, stencils, weighs, and bands equipment and supplies. Constructs bins, shelving, and other storage aids
Want to call him out on it, but even mention of disrespecting military and everyone gets all pissed off. I'll probably leave it alone and let him brag about his days of combat in Kosovo (peace-keeping mission btw)*****Father, Husband*****

Rofl, why should we be grateful that he joined the military? What is he doing to benefit anyone? There is no war. There is no danger. How is he defending his country? Exactly, he's not. He's just a moron who joined the military because he was too stupid to go to college.
Pathetic solider boys like these don't deserve respect.
Respect should only be given to the humble.

LOL at your friend serving a country when he doesn't even like the people in it. Logic not even once.
On topic, OP: My dad did some heavy stuff in Vietnam and never mentions to anybody he was in the military. I think that goes for a lot of things though, people who have done something for real don't need to brag about it.Making Music

so bascialy - anyone who served in the military in the 80s and 90s deserves no respect cuz we were never at war.
gotcha!Weight Loss: Go carnivore or keto combined with 16/8 IF. It'll create easy calorie deficit. Meat is good and heals, stop being lied to.
