actually they do put their damage to use. look at the statistics for attacks/deaths. cops dont use them because their superiors are not allowing them to. too much of a liability. i will agree that its very hard to train pits to let go on command. thats the bulldog trait. a german shepard is a quick clean bike and restrain....a pit is a massacre. also hold your American bros down you sell out bitch

For a pet it comes down to personal aesthetics of what you like
For working dog comes down to what you need it to do
GSD are common working dogs but its mainly due to how easy they are to train for a wide range of activities which is rare for bigger dogs.
Yet the 'best' for one thing is usually a really rare mix between various dogs.

Have a GSD atm. 90LBs of Teeth and muscle. Had some POS kid jump our fence at night and go into the garage, Dog is a cheeky kunt and waited for him to get into the yard before charging him. Twat got a chitload of stitches, big fine and good behaviour bond. Dog got a LOT of praise lol
Will probably get a GSD or Ridgeback when I get my own house.*Bigorexia Crew*
*I need Feminism because I need something to laugh at crew*

This. I take my 2yr old girl to work with me and she's good as gold, never on leash. Knows loads of commands. Pray, Weave, Sit, Lie Down, Bang (play dead), Balance, Roll Over, Paw, Shake (left paw, Paw is right paw), Bow... few more. Also do Agility with her and have one a few competitions for KC and UKA
