Quinoa is a grainy seed that is often touted as a 'Superfood'. At first, when you eat it you think 'what is this?? a grain... a seed?, ' Quinoa gives me the 'fullness' feeling like carbs do...but its better for you.
Try substituting this instead of Rice or Pasta when you're cutting.
Its low calories, fat free, low cholesterol.
One cup of Quinoa only has 220 calories and 24 grams of protein. I forget how much fiber it has, but it does have a decent amount.
Now...my two favorite things about Quinoa is
1. the fact that while it does not have much flavor, it really picks up the flavor of what you cook it with (cooking is really easy). I take cooked quinoa and throw it in a pan with cut up red bell peppers, sliced chicken, curry powder and diced mushrooms. So good.
2. Secondly, its a complete protein. This means that it contains all of the amino acids. This is extremely rare for a plant souce!. remember.. quinoa is a great carb substitution..so if you replace potato or rice with Quinoa..you lower carbs jack up the protein content of each meal.
Ive recently discovered Quinoa, hope you guys do too!

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon
