I was wondering if there is a more affordable resource for whey protein other than my local vitamin shop? ($45 for a 5 pound bucket).

There's a pretty well known website that sells supplements.
Usually has pretty good deals going on too.USMC (2009-2013)

One thing to consider is that 0.6 grams to 0.8 grams of total protein intake per pound of bodyweight is (more than) sufficient to optimize muscle gain/retention and, thus, you're probably already getting more than enough protein from the foods you consume.
The notion of extremely high protein intake being beneficial, let alone essential, to muscle development is largely just a marketing ploy by supplement companies to induce folks to buy protein supplements.Last edited by WonderPug; 10-10-2013 at 08:09 AM.

You do realize that their is a 6 inch difference in height between us, as well as age, bone density, and overall structural size don't you?
I just simply stated the food sources that I consume that are cheap, and you could consume to easilly hit 150g protein.
If your looking for a protein powder, shoot for Dymatize Elite XT. $.50 per 21g serving. My Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=169516313
