Am I Losing Anything By Taking Egg White Protein Opposed To Others?

    Hey guys,

I am an athlete who is trying to get his weight up for his upcoming baseball season. I'm looking to put on 15 pounds by mid-march. I'm on a great workout plan.

For a post workout shake, I take an Egg White Protein powder opposed to whey protien because the ones I have tried have given me bad acne. I was just wondering, do I lose anything when I take Egg White opposed to Whey? For a 17 year old male who is trying to put on muscle and mass should I be taking Whey protein opposed to Egg White?

    Thanks!

Nope. They might have slightly different amino acid profiles and taste, but you should be good. Not sure if whey is the actual problem of your acne, but it is a very low possibility.

If your body doesn't like whey then don't take it. Egg white protein is fine just try to add some whole milk to add some calories with it. Have you ever tried making smoothies with it? Just thought that would be interesting.

you could be lactose intolerant and that's why whey was giving you acne. egg whites are a complete protein, just like whey, poultry, soy, etc..so yeah there's no real benefit of taking one over the other.

I lost my social life for a bit when I tried egg white protein due to the room clearing flatulence. That may have just been my reaction to it though. As far as gains, I believe it'll give you the same results as a whey protein.

lemme guess, the whey is some kind of chocolate? when i was younger, chocolate whey types always gave me some acne but vanilla/fruit types were fine so i'd suggest you try vanilla type whey

egg protein powders are crazy foamy
