So recently some body told me that instead of buying whey I can drink a pint of chocolate milk for post workout meals. The idea is that you get all your essential amino acids and it has a 4 to 1 carb and protein ratio . Now I dont like the idea of chocolate after I workout but what I was thinking is what if i just drink a pint of regular1% milk and get my carbs from fruits and what not. What are people's opinion on this?

Drink/Eat whatever you enjoy that helps you meet your calorie/macronutrient/micronutrient needs.
Side Note: Chocolate milk is delicious. Definitely a go to of mine for easy calories/nutrients.USMC (2009-2013)

Lol you can eat or drink whatever you want. The simple carbs in milk might help bring protein to your muscles faster if you believe in Broscience. Not enough protein for my needs tho. I need a shake to help meet my macros while enjoying some other type of food in another meal. Cheers

Powdered whey protein is just a processed fast food. You don't need to consume that or any other processed fast food post workout.
You can drink chocolate milk after your workout if you want to, but it will make absolutely no difference compared to consuming something else, assuming you meet your total daily intake targets either way.

We knew what you meant. They are telling you that you don't need either. It is fine to drink either, if you like, but don't think that choosing choc milk or whey is going to give you any significant result differences rather than choosing a post-workout protein and carb choice of chicken and rice or steak and potatoes.

I agree you can get everything you need, but calories will & fat will be through the roof. I dont know what your macros look like, but I wouldn't do this on a regular basis. Milk is essentially casein protein, very slow digesting. Whey, on the other hand, is the fastest digesting on the market, which is why its as popular as it is. Whey is definitely better to take after a workout. Milk, or any other casein is better off taken before bed.
If you were to do this chocolate milk thing; I would try a higher quality milk. Maybe a Tru Moo or something along those lines.
For post workout though, I'd spend the money on whey.

According to zPieces logic you must be on a well regimented diet of whey protein immediately post workout and never forgetting to ingest casein prior to rest (to avoid the catabolism obviously).
