    Protein Powder and Kidney Disease??

Ive been taking protein powder for 3 years and the my side started to hurt so i went to the doctors. After some tests, the doctor said Protein powder was causing my kidney's to fail??? She said i need to stop taking it or it'll get worse. Is this even possible? My life without protein powder is incomplete and meaningless. This is a weight lifter's nightmare. Im only 18, and the protein i use is Gold standard.

Incomplete and meaningless OP? Ha ha...

At 18 and a buck sixty-six I somehow doubt you've ingested enough protein in your life to have caused kidney failure. I'm guessing all your friends have some muscle and you are just a little butt hurt over it cuz you don't have the work ethic and "kidneys" to compete with them.

    Am I right?

Take his baseline ALT/AST levels while taking his protein, then 30 days later and take them again to see if the protein is the cause of the damage.

    Kidney enzymes, right?

OP is concerned about kidney function, not hepatotoxicity

OP srs though. You're using one of the highest quality protein drinks on the market. ON is one of only a few companies that handles the entire process beginning to end. If you really are having these issues I'd have your doctor run different tests because there's about a 99% chance this has nothing to do with your protein. Do you take any other supplements?
