I don't know how to answer this, I don't really know where to go. I'm trying to find something that's somewhat interesting to me and bearable. I doubt I would be into programming I was looking to do software if not support will do.

Well with programming you'll be dealing with a small team and not customers. For some (like me) that's a huge plus. I'm left alone in a cube to get sht done and I rarely have to deal with anyone's stupidity. It's definitely not for everyone, but I would at least give it a fair try, it's definitely lucrative. IT tends to have more down time with peaks of work where you will feel like the world is going to fuking end if you don't get the network back up in time.

My specific title is 'Data Warehouse Analyst.' I do a lot of querying from Teradata/Hadoop and build some web apps to deliver the results. I also work a bit with IT Audit to generate server/application/db access lists.

I like it, but I also just like building pc's and servers. You'll probably find that the hardware side can get boring after a while.

There's nothing wrong with support, but I would shoot for something a bit more development related. If that's not for you, it should be easy to go to a support role.

Remember, making the business money is what's important.......develop skills to that end.

IT is a good field to get into, but there are a lot different areas you can get into. It can be hands on, or just phone support, or combination of both. Right now I work for an IT recruiting/staffing place, they have me setting up and taking down work stations. I'm doing this because I have no prior IT experience. It's easy money though. I'd get some certs, A+, Network+, and Security+. That will lay a good foundation.

Also you don't have to be super passionate about IT, I'm not, I enjoy technology but I think I enjoy the problem solving aspect the most. I don't home every night and try to take part my computer or something like that.
