best case scenario would be a communial type deal, bunch of people living off the land together, not as lonely.

Got 2 cabins crew checking in.
Gonna go there tomorrow actually. Thanks guys for making me think over it. Gonna go to the one located 30 minutes from where I am living. Got another one a few hours away. Both are remote, but they have roads connecting them to the real world.
No electricity/water from outside sources. One of the cabins are getting water from the river, the other one is pumping it up from the ground water.
Getting electricity from solar panels/windmill.

Get land that is not on a marked road so it is not easy to get to or find. The harder to get there the less you will have to fight to keep it. Land off an unmarked dirt road is best.
Get both solar power and a small wind mill so you have power in all weather conditions. There are wind mills less than 16 feet tall. At the same time remember if someone can see it they can use it to locate you.
Learn how to grow food and can food. Invest in a pressure cooker.
Don't tell people it is your survival pad. If people need to know say it is a small hunting cabin.
Don't forget to stock up on medicine. If there is an event that causes society to break down you will still need your meds but there will not be any pharmacy. Get basics like antibiotics, antiacid, pain meds, ect. Tell your doctor you are going on a hiking vacation to a third world nation without doctors and you want to be prepared. Your doctor may come up with things you need that you have not considered.
Stock up on water, canned food, and items you can trade with others for things you will need. Booze is good to have to trade with people for supplies you may forget to stock up on.

Lots of people are doing this. They want to be self sufficent in case there is a major disaster. They do not want to be stuck in a large city and have to count on government to save them.

I bring this up not because I'm some prepper or want to be un findable.
Just seemed like a much more fulfilling lifestyle, than how we've become accustomed to living today.
I think after becoming established, all of your primary needs are met. Ie, shelter, food, water, etc. it would lead to a very humbling yet fulfilling lifestyle.Redwings|Badgers|Packers

I wouldn't mind doing it for a little while, being completely self-sufficient. Not sure if I could do it though.
I love being surrounded by and writing about nature but I know that the Australian bush is pretty gnarly.PSN: e_m_a91
