I'm a Kai fan and he never comes in 100% (to the Olympia). So that is probably holding him back...

Say a random guy that's new to bodybuilding comes across Kai Greene. He watches a workout video of him, cause he looks great. He finds out that half the video is some deep philosofical pseudoscience chit that he does not understand, and Kai comes across as a weirdo. The fan then googles his name, finds gay and fruitporn. If Kai was Mr. O, the fan would probably quit bodybuilding.

No, Kai's conditioning, or rather his lack of nailing it, is what's holding him back.
Plus, his waist was tighter last year when he was sharper. He looked slightly blockier this year as well as softer. Someone posted a pic of him hitting the front double billast year and this year - it's obvious when the pics are side by side. Ppl saying Phil's obliques were off and holding water would then have to admit that if Phil had some water in his core, Kai must've had a bucket of it.

Funny, people claiming Kai is weird and boring...all my non lifting friends who have seen his videos think he's awesome.
His guest posing routines with the pop-and-lock and costumes, the fact he isn't a typical meathead or bro.
If Kai is boring, then what is Phil? What does he do that makes him exciting? Showing off his watches and shoes?
I think those like me who have been the perennial outcast, grew up poor, introverted, etc. can really connect with someone like Kai.
The types who were popular jocks in high school and the extroverted types are most likely not going to connect with him and just think he's a weirdo.
They would gravitate wore towards someone like Phil; outspoken, cocky, flashy.*Korean Crew*

Your half right. We the fans don't care about it, he still has a bigger fan base than Kai. General public WOULD care, if they gave 1 care about bodybuilding. But to care about that, they have to have some awareness of bodybuilding, and bodybuilding has to have more exposure to them, which it does not. So until bodybuilding has a place among the other top sports (which it wont), his past should not matter at all. Even then it should not matter. We aren't judging character here.
Unfortunately it probably matters to the IFBB enough to push him back a placing that's close. If he dominated phil ever then he would probably get the title, but he has not done that and most likely wont.

Hi Budjola and welcome to the sport and to the internet! Let me aware you that Kai is not 'borring', infact he is the most respected and liked bodybuilder and all the fans for a reason. He doesn't post photos of his shoe collections, he doesn't brag about his cars or other things in his personal life. He motivates and inspires thousands and thousands of people (through a variety of different ways and social mediums) to be better humans and to lift and to think about life. And those thousands of people would all disagree that he is not boring.

As ridiculous as his physique is, his lack of a win is to do with his lack of conditioning (esp in pre judging). He always seems to carry a thin film of water on his back.
If he could combat this, Im sure he would win, but when he is up against someone, who perhaps DOES have some kind of bias with the judges, he cannot afford to come in at anything less than 100%.☆☆☆υк ¢яєω☆☆☆

Let's be real, yes his past is holding him back, and IMO it's not just that, it's all the weird **** he does with guest posing/posing.

IMHO, the bodybuilding world can deal with Kai winning the Mr. Olympia, if he deserves it. The problem is that if he is allowed to win then someone from the mainstream media is going to put the existing gay porn video(s) out there for the mainstream world to find.
The IFBB isn't worried about Kai's image they are worried about bodybuilding's image. No O for Kai." ----------I`m your Huckleberry......'"

No one in the mainstream gives two ****s about bodybuilding.
How many people outside of bodybuilding fans do you think know what the Mr. Olympia is? How many do you think know that it was even this weekend? This "mainstream" nonsense needs to stop. Bodybuilding will never be mainstream and people will never care for the "sport" the way they care about the 4 major sports in america.
Let's be honest. No one is going to become a fan of bodybuilding and then all of a sudden find out about kai's fruit thing and then instantly not become a fan anymore. Does that happen in any sport? How many athletes do illegal things and still have fans? Thousands. The NFL would be out of business if fandom was based on the outside activities of its athletes.

What held him back was playing the size game since playing the conditioning game didn't get him the win last year. If he brought the exact same package as last year - or leaner - he would have had a shot at winning. Kai needs to just come in shredded (even if it means sacrificing a bit of size) to have a fighting chance against Phil.

I think this whole thing is just a conspiracy. He wouldn't be in 2nd place if they wanted to hold him back.

Kai never learned that stuff comes back to haunt you, when you try to earn a quick easy buck, instead of just getting a job. Stupid **** in your past can affect your future. Just look at a former Miss America who got in trouble when her past was found out, she had to relinquish her title. Kai should have put a more thought into what he was doing for a quick easy buck.
