So I decided to get me a push/pull sled for extra cardio!
I liked the way this underground training sled looked. Had that unique look that it doesn’t look like a regular sled. I ordered 2 so I was given a $30 off discount on each one so 170 instead of 200. Unfortunately the shipping went up a bit more but each sled weighs 70 pounds so not much I could do about that. My order was originally placed September 12th, but he wasn’t able to ship until Monday this week. I got it yesterday and tested it out. Shipping was roughly $45 for each sled.

It’s definitely heavy duty and everything feels solid. The instructions were written on tape placed on the sled to make an easy assembly. Basically arrows pointing to where stuff went and which was left and right. The bolts were already in place and I needed my ¾ inch wrench to assemble.







He made a different design for the center loading pillar. It bolts to the unit now instead of being welded. A plus is the plates can now sit flat across the welded metal blocks and sit flat.
The rear push poles slide into position and lock with a turn knob made of metal. This allows quick removal of the poles to easily take the sled in a car. I probably could have requested the feet be removable (the poles were his design by default) but I didn’t think of that, but, at ¼ inch thick, I doubt I’ll have a problem for many years if ever.





It does work on grass but not as good as on pavement. I guess this is because the field near me isn’t as flat as it looks from a distance. There is some wiggle of the poles at the base where they connect but it doesn’t seem to affect the functionality of the sled. I was told to try to paint a thin layer of paint to make it tighter and sand the paint off as needed if I put too much on. I might try that at some point but its not a big issue.



Since the sled is 11 gauge and weighs 70 pounds empty I can pretty much load more weight on it than I’ll ever need. I’m no expert on welds but they look good to me what do you guys think? I did opt for a stronger pull tab compared to what he puts on by default. I have more of a box shape now with extra welds for extra strength.

The mini deadlift jacks were $96 shipped for 2, which was pretty reasonable. I got a discount for those as well. The shipping cost was $16 roughly, since they both fit in the same box. It’s 11 gauge as well and seems to work fine for its intended purpose. The paint job seems to scrape off easily so that could be better but I’m not overly concerned.



















All in all I think I got some great equipment at some great prices. I’m glad I found Underground Training Equipment. 

Yeah I'm waiting for it to finish processing. I ended up removing the first upload I didn't think it was working. Second one the upload says complete, but it hasn't processed yet. Says 95% processed now. Ok done now but only 360p, 1080p still to come.

One of the things I was curious about when you first mentioned this equipment a while ago was the ease (or not) of using the jack to raise the bar when it had several 45lb plates on it...

i like that sled a lot. i think i'd unbolt the center rod and put weights on the poles, mimic the original prowler


i don't like that mini jack. it looks like it has to go through a pretty big arc before it rests. also, it looks like it would've dumped the bar without you holding it.

Have any of your neighbors asked about the sled yet? (My biggest worry about getting a sled is that the neighbors would complain.)

Thanks for the vids and pics. I agree with jackbravo, the deadlift jack looks like it's too high (but that could vary depending on the diameter of the plates you're using). It's probably only really an issue if you don't have much room though. Do you really deadlift on your front porch? That's badass, haha - though I'd be a little afraid of going through the floorboards. I guess if your neighbors aren't upset by that, they'll probably be fine with a little late night prowling .

edit: Doesn't seem too safe to be using the prowler on the side of the road like that, especially at night.

nope no one has asked me about the sled. the traffic is pretty noisy so maybe thats why . i can put plates on the poles as well just didn't for the vid . yea i'm not sure about the deadlift jack. if nothing else i can just have it raise the bar and step back with the weight but that seems kind of dumb.

i only used it at night because it got dark and i waited too long to do the video. i won't use it at night normally . although there is less traffic at night. . i don't deadlift on the front porch haha. just for the video .

If UT guy adds removable skis to his design, this sled would be top of the crop. I love the fact that the center pole is removeable; and that side poles can accept weight plates. I remember people pointing out on this board that when weight is placed on the center pole only, the sled becomes awkward to push.

I checked out his Ebay store and there is no sled in there. How did you order yours? I'd like to get one.

Just message him thsts what i did . Im sure he could make the feet removable. He was even open to my request to have my poles powder coated yellow for 75 but i ended up not having enough for it.

I forgot to say the packaging was top notch. everything was wrapped separately and inside a box that was inside a bigger box. so everything arrived safe and sound.

If I understand it correctly - the prowler was originally designed for the tall poles to be weight horns only pushed from the low t-handle. Then everyone started using it the other way cause you don't have to get so low.

If you only use the center weight horn and push from the taller handles, there will be more downward force on the single ski in the front as opposed to using the two horns in the rear. The center post is probably more useful when pushing from the t-handle
