    elbow pain after bicep workout

i have a pain in my left elbow, not on the inside of the elbow but where it bends in,and i get this pain when i extend my arm all the way

for biceps i did preacer curls with a straight bar and close grip reverse grip pull downs, but im pretty sure the pain is from preacher curls

    anyone ever get this?

you might be bouncing on the way down for preacher curls which would cause the strain on elbows

Well it could be that your coming down to fast on the Preachers. Take it easy on the way down, slow and controlled.

Also Close Grip Pulldowns, I don't know if you get this, but when I do them, I feel it in my triceps, not because their getting worked, but when you pull down to the chest it stretches the triceps out a lot. That could result in maybe stretching the tendons in your elbow or something.

It doesn't bother me at all though.

You may be hyper-extending your elbow when you come to the bottom. Does your preacher curl bench go all the way down to your wrist? It's okay to keep a slight bend in the elbow, this will also keep a constant strain on the biceps, instead of letting you rest for a split second....

i think i go down too much on my preacher bench maybe
the bars rest really low and to pick up the bar i have to stand up then lift, then sit back down, and i go down so that my elbows are almost locked. that bad?

I have the same injury from doing incline hammer curls. I think I went down too far and strained something in my elbow. It has been lingering for a long time, so make sure it heals before doing preacher curls or incline hammer curls again.

I have the exact same pain but it came two days after my work out. I just recently started working out again after a 5-6 month break. Does anyone know when this pain will go away and when I can start hitting the gym again?

I got the same thing from the preacher curls, was told it was probably hyper extended, stayed away from them and it got better. It got so bad at one point, I could not even do my chin ups, so instead of sacrificing other exercises, I just gave up the preacher curls. Now I am having some issues with the outside of the elbow, right where the tendon attaches. If I even bump it on something, it will light me up. I can warm up and work thru it, but I wonder if I have started a small tear.

Thanks for replying, everyone. It appears we have a decent cross-section of people here and a lot of well thought-out discussion.
