MISC Archery Crew: Blazers, Slick Tricks, and Knocking Nocks

I've been using Thunderheads for my entire hunting career, 13 seasons now.

i killed a bull and an antelope with them. they work but dude if i was you id think about switching to a lower profile head. i like the thunderheads because theyre fixed blade and cut to tip. i use similar designs but only use more compact heads now.

Those three are the best in my opinion.

I may get into self filming later into this years season. I am still waiting for the Nikon D7200 to come out. (I am not getting the camera just for hunting)

I just have that cheap Simmons range finder. It was 120.00 and so far it works pretty damn good. I gotta get a good pair of Nocs too. some 10x42's for my truck. In my tree stand i don't have time to really scope stuff out. Usually hunting the edges of clear cuts.

Never been to a desert in my life mayne. Wood kill to go to AZ though. That's more like it just killing a buck then if numbers are low. I thought they just let you shoot either. I agree tho, i like fixed, low profile heads. That's what the slick trick is also.

dude this year i plugged in my broadheads in camp the day before the hunt and they shot better than my field tips. smoked my bull at 64 yards the next day.

phuckkkkk!! I just found this lease in Southern Illinois. 280 acres. Guy wants 3,000 per year. I can bow hunt, shotgun hunt, turkey hunt, food plots, leave stands, cameras, and what ever else I want to do.


That feel when none of your friends hunt and aren't interested in splitting the cost with you. Last year the guy who leased it shot a 160" deer. The guy leased it for 3 years straight. Flew from New York just to shotgun hunt 6 days a year. Never bow hunted it. A 190" was killed with a car in front of the property last year. The old man who has been leasing it for the last three years is really sick, so no longer wants it.

Lots of it with in a 2 hr drive of Houston. Lots of draw hunts from TX Parks and Wildlife. 3 national forest with in a 2-3 hr drive as well.

go to your local bow shop and ask to shoot a few bows.

I suggest Hoyt.

if its your first bow go with a Hoyt Charger

-I run into him - he says "wth are you doing here!?" like he owns the place (i've been hunting here since I was 12 btw)
-"I'm a professional hunter, sponsored by 7 companys. I just crushed a monster before dark."
-It either walked just over the hill from where I sat or walked right past my other stand
-next morning as I walk back to the truck, this jackass is still looking for his deer. no wonder i didn't see **** that morning

I've had a compound bow since I was about 10, but I haven't touched it since. So...14 years later I take a legit interest in archery. If I were to dust off the ol bow and start practicing before, I expect, getting a newer/stronger one, anything I should look out for? I don't really even remember basic maintenance. I'm talking about the potential dangers of pulling back a bow that is 14 years unused. Should I get it restrung first? Etc.
