My point exactly. 300 million people in comparison to our 300,000 people spread out over the entire Bahamas which consists of 700 islands and I think about 3,000 cays. I don't think we will see any change any time soon. Could you imagine a turnout of about 1,000 people saying they want change? Lol

Yea, I totally agree. You should be able to purchase a gun with the intent of it being a source of protection for you and your family. I also disagree with the fact that the person has to be in your bedroom and your gun can't be loaded in your safe. IMO, what's the point of even owning a gun if you have to go through that crap? A guy kicks down your door and you have to say, " Wait...Let me get my gun out of the safe and load it first then come in my bedroom so I don't get in trouble for shooting you!" This is why I've never bothered getting one. I'm one of those people that follows rules so it would seem kind of pointless. I have a police officer friend that I talk to basically everyday that's been on the force 25 years and doesn't own a personal gun. He did say that they don't really enforce the shooting in the bedroom only law now though. Once they are in your house he says just blast them, but according to the law as it is written, it's supposed to be only in your bedroom so I guess it comes down to the discretion of the police officer responding or the magistrate if you go before them. Seems like they are protecting the wrong people though

I would think the opposite. You open carry and less people will probably mess with you because they know what you got. Those that have them concealed, you don't know what they have so people will gamble on you not packing something. If I was a robber, I'd take my chances with someone who doesn't look like they have a gun than one blatantly showing it. Just like kids that steal fruit...You have a dog in your yard, they will skip that house. They see a house with no sign of a dog and they take their chance.

I think Jamaica was leading per capita, but our issue here with murder is usually either drug related or "sweethearting" as well as so many immigrants coming here. My police friend said that the majority of the crime committed here is from people from a country south of us. Don't want to single them out and call names, but they come here and have children with hopes of getting citizenship. It's not Cuba or Jamaica.

I'm blown away (no pun intended) by this. No hate, it's just not a conversation we have in this country. I know fuk all about guns, my parents know fuk all about guns, their parents know fuk all about guns, and my children know fuk all about guns.

The thought of having to teach them would be devastating.

We just don't have that problem of needing more guns to protect us against guns. Just part of worlds rich pageantry I guess.
