I've seen some 'interesting' definitions of the term lately.
To me it still means, first and foremost, building muscle, with particular attention to proportion and symmetry.
What does it mean to you?

To me it's using progressive resistance to build muscle and functional strength to meet my personal goals, I am a very active outdoors person, hiking, hunting, fishing, trapping, mountain biking, skiing and the list goes on.
With this said, I don't want a stick figure physique nor that of a huge power lifter, if these were at the far ranges of the spectrum, i'd be in the middle somewhere. 5.6 between 190 to 200 lbs.
And you can keep the abs, I prefer my 6 pack, chilled in the fridge for after a hard day on the trails.

I'm not sure. I always assumed it meant to build your body with respect to your own personal goals. I think professional body builder has a whole different meaning to me.
My favorite body builder, John Candy, once said "Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.". Really hit home for me.☻/

The topic is more of a main O35 forum discussion. (Or at least it should develop into one.)
Why was the thread moved to the misc?Hums the theme to Superman during planks and LYTPs. Now that you've read this, you will too.
All right boys, now watch how this is done. The key is to put it all in your groin and your back.
Take your legs totally out of the equation. Lift with your lower back in a jerking, twisting motion.

And so the argument rages. FLEX's definition is as good as any I've read, but realistically, you're going to get so many opinions that it can mean whatever you want it to mean. To me, it means building as much muscle as you can without losing your basic proportions or enhancing deficient proportions. "As much muscle as you can" will vary widely as will everyone's sense of what proportion and symmetry and size are. For me, it means trying to enhance the size I have now (admittedly, not very impressive) whilst trying to lose (not "loose") weight.

So if I want to be a 350 couch potato I'm a bodybuilder?
And I'm not being facetious. There are web sites out there for people that are intentionally getting fat.
And there are people out there trying to break the world's record for fattest woman, fattest man, fattest mother, etc.
They're building the body they want. So they're bodybuilders?Insta: flexjs

I know your feeling about non-O35ers posting in here since we've discussed that in the past....but I've seen reports from you on both demographics.
Just because the post has the word BBing in it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the Misc section.
And I love you too, buddy...but I'm not going to lie when I say you take the organization of this site a bit too personal/serious sometimes.
Anyways...not looking to derail your thread any more than it is...you can PM me if you want to chat any more.

Shapping springs to mind.. Loosing as much fat as possible through toning and eating loads of food that has been sterilised.
On a personal note though. When I first started here I did not know my arse from my elbow and lucky for me I started a thread and mentioned squatting and my weight loss. (thread will be bumped in due cause )
I got good advice and offers of assistance. This started the foundations of my journey in BODYBUILDING.

You are a bodybuilder if you actually go through all the training and conditioning and get your butt on stage. The rest of us are just gym rats or gym lifters. IMHO it's an insult to those who've put in the work and endured the pain to actually compete when you call any old gym rat a bodybuilder.
I'm not a bodybuilder just a gym rat who is trying to obtain my own personal goals for my body. If you call that bodybuilding you are truly cutting short the work that it takes to really be a bodybuilder.
