What rustles my jimmies: people who, following a promotion, turn into complete pricks because they are insecure and think that if they don't behave as hardasses for no reason whatsoever, people won't take them seriously in their new position. With the result of everyone actually losing any respect they may have had for them in the first place.

My last foster baby was pushed out of a moving vehicle onto the highway...heart worm positive and tape worm ridden. She had the best house manners, potty and crate trained, and the sweetest and most affectionate dog I've ever known..just terrified of cars. I miss her already [its been two days since she was adopted] she just kept on living and loving life.

Yeah, babies and animals= WAY more tears!
Thankfully these days it been mostly the elderly and drunks dying.

Sorry for your loss, I recently had to put one of my 2 year old schnauzers down due to heart failure and that was so incredibly heart wrenching. The toughest part was watching my 4 and 6 year old be so brave and torn up at the same time. My 6 year old insisted she hold the dog while "we set her soul free from a body that doesnt work for her" geez, I could cry thinking about it.

What breed did you foster? I fostered Boston Terriers for a few years. I'm thinking about fostering Heelers at some point.

A friend of mine had one. We all called him Satan, to the point that even the owner once or twice caught himself calling him Satan. We'd wind him up just for fun (winding up a Boston Terrier takes about 3 and a half seconds ), and he'd turn into the Tasmanian Devil. His favorite pastime was trying to hump the neighbor's pit bull, well his leg... He was a hoot, but I couldn't imagine dealing with that all day, every day.

Okay, what is with boston terriers and humping. My friend's BT will literally hump anything and everything. She will even be laying on her back humping up in the air.

They can be rambunctious at times but all of mine were good. Bad behavior doesn't last long in my house. The one that I could not potty train was the only one who got me good. That little turd would tick me off. All were very sweet though. I had two little ones at the same time once that were about 10 lbs each....cutest little things ever. My husband woke up one day to a banging in the living room. He went to check it out and found that the two of them were trying to get the bathroom trash can into the recliner. One of them drug it from the bathroom then was trying to jump into the chair with it in her mouth. Of course she dropped it and kept repeating the same steps until she woke my husband up. That is classic BT behavior.

That is an issue with not neutering or not correcting the dog....or both. I have never ever had a dog that did that.

The other day, I saw a flyer near the gym locker room advertising canine CPR classes. I was like "Whoa, really, giving mouth to mouth to a dog?"

This lady turns to me and goes, "You obviously don't have a dog. They're part of the family."

Geez, cool your jets, dog lady. They're still animals. Not to rustle jimmies, I just never loved dogs. The stench alone turns me off... and I used to horseback ride seriously, so I know whereof smells. Herbivores smell better.

It's not exactly mouth-to-mouth, but definitely CPR. And many other things we do to dogs to save their lives, you'd be shocked. Same in cats, horses, cows, guinea pigs, ferrets, snakes, etc.

I do think horses smell better than dogs, but don't go talking to much sh!t about dogs, you'll have some reds flyin' your way
