There’s been a shift here, the R&D budgets required to build the PC’s level of graphics are enormous, there are only a few companies that can do it. The technology that we’re applying to PC graphics is literally state of the art, at the limits of semiconductor technology. That’s why I don’t think it’s possible any more to have a console that can outperform the PC.

Agreed. This is why the best games since 2006 have all been coming out on PC. Games like:
GTAV
The Last of Us
Red Dead Redemption
Halo
Demons Souls
Uncharted
God of War
Metal Gear Solid 4
This is also the reason why if you want to play the only genre that matters - first person military shooters - you get a PC. Genres such as fighting, RPG, and JRPGs are all left to the consoles. Lol @ filthy peasants enjoying anything besides taking screenshots of first person shooters.
Sure sucks for console gamers.

Or, you know, actual top of the line SPRPGs like the Mass Effect Series, TES, DAO, The Witcher/2, Half Life, etc. Or any multiplayer RPG. Or every strategy game that's ever mattered. But yeah, consoles are OK for fighting games and some of the better exclusives.
That isn't to say I won't buy next gen consoles 6 months after release when prices drop 50%, I most likely will if any of the exclusives look worthwhile. I just fail to see any reason to do any gaming on console when I have the option to not do so. They are objectively inferior in absolutely every way. The next gen consoles are grossly overpriced PCs boasting specs that are poverty-level by 2010 standards and lack the majority of the basic functionality that a PC offers above and beyond an objectively superior gaming experience.*Type O Negative Crew*

There is a good thing that comes out of this generation of consoles...
Since both use an 8 core APU, developers are going to be more pressed to utilize all of the cores. Lot of games on PC seem to have somewhat limited CPU usage due to them not being multi-thread optimized. There are some games that are actually using more than one core
(Crysis 3 comes to mind) but I think we will see better multi-threaded optimization on games overall with all platforms.PC Gaming Master Race

Im pc master race but there are games that suck to play on pc. Sports games like nba2k fifa and my fav madden suck on pc and dont have nearly the following on pc. Also racing games suck on pc.
I dont know why you guys have to show so much hatered toward other gaming systems. I for one am happy that I have options and despite the fact I mainly game on pc I am happy ps4 and xbox 1 are coming out soon. It usually means new games to play and my friends are buying the sytems. Who knows I might p8ck up a system later.

If you think you can build a more powerful PC than a PS4 for the same or less price you are delusional. This is the main advantage consoles have, the other being larger number of users and thus more populated online multiplayer.
Ps4 looks to be more or less matching the rig I got early this year (i5 3570k, 7870 OC, 8GB RAM etc) at about half the price (though my build could've been done cheaper in US)EVERY TIME YOU FIGHT ME, I RUN AWAY FROM YOU

And i love how every console only gamer implicates that PC gamers also can't afford a console......I think if I can afford a £400 GPU I can afford a £250 console....
Believe me we are not missing out, its quite easy to afford a console as well when you are not a filthy peasant single platform gamer.

lol what a stupid comparison, that is TOP of a line aka titan, which costs like $1k+ , maybe 2 percent of pc gamers have a titan(yet you *******s are bragging bout it), most pc gamers have a 2-2.5 teraflop card which isnt that much more powerful than the 1.85 card of the ps4, get of your high horse pc gaming *******s,

Wait let me get this straight. A 2000 usd gaming machine will outperform a 400 usd gaming machine? What a revelation revealed by nVidia.
I wanna see PC peasants put together a rig that will outperform a ps4 for 400 usd. Note "outperform" so something that will play all the next gen games BF4, GTAV, Watchdogs as well as games that will come out in 4-5 years from now. at 1440p/60 fps yeah? Oh plus a monitor since most people don't have a monitor that goes upto 1440p.Last edited by Cannonsex; 09-25-2013 at 05:16 AM.

a high end computer costs 800 (brb i just upgraded for first time in 5 years and my 4890 was running still performing well) if you ignore peripherals like keyboard/mouse/monitors
and don't bring up the gtx titan being $1000, i have 660 ti in sli ($400 combined) and they out perform it
the gtx titan should really be $500 and called gtx 685 but it would sell the same, because morons click "Sort buy highest price" and buy the titan
i'm upper middle class and have a ps3/wii/psp/3ds so inormally don't enter these threads but i'm tired of retards acting like its hard to build a high-end computer for cheap if you wait for deals and overclock
i have had a 4.2 i2500k for awhile and it annoys me that even in the most demanding games i see 40% usageYou don't need a reason to help people.
RIP Zyzz & Greg Plitt, my two biggest inspirations.

It cost's $2000 to make a PC which will outperform a PS4?
lol full retard achieved
considering PS4 parts are not purchasable on the market or at least not even know yet that is quite impossible and considering console companies use the cheapest chittiest parts for things like PSU, motherboard/chipset etc you could not run a PC level operating system on that hardware.
Sony obviously have deals with AMD and other manufacturers to get the components for cheap prices and they are probably making an initial loss on the hardware like they did with the PS3 at first to keep the price as low as possible so they have a short term loss but a big long term gain.
And you don't just use a PC for gaming, it can be used for multiple tasks within your professional life as well.Misc ninja
