    Wrist Pain

Hey guys, Ive been lifting for quite some time now (probably 5 years), and then all of a sudden like 1-2 weeks ago, my left wrist started to hurt a bit. When im not moving my wrist (resting state) it does not hurt at all. And the pain is quite bearable but there are some movements that really hurt my wrist especially when I stretch my wrist backwards assuming my fists are facing the ground. I read on the forums that some people experience this same pain when they do upright rows and I was thinking that this could also be my problem.

Do I really have to stop lifting for a while? I bought wrist straps as well to make sure my wrist does not bend or so while lifting.

In general, it wouldn't hurt to evaluate any activities-of-daily-living you do that could also be irritating it. Hopefully the solution is as simple as omitting a specific exercise or re-evaluating body mechanics. I would use my pain-free hand as a base-line of strength and flexibility compare with the other. I would also research movements of wrist/elbow to make sure my body could perform each movement with low weight (1-5 lbs srs). Also, if I had one of these, then I would add it to my collection:

A digiflex, for $71, on Amazon, but I'm poor.

If your really worried and have health insurance then I would seek a hand specialist for specific advice.

    Good luck.

    1. Don't do static stretches before lifting, instead do dynamic stretches and push ups/jumping jacks, etc.
    2. Form. If your wrist are bent while pushing weight up, fix your form because all that weight is putting a lot of pressure on your wrist.
    3. Wrist brace. Mine does wonders.
    4. Muscle therapy, or any other muscle/joint pain reliever
    5. Last and most important, take a break and take it easy for the next 2 weeks.

    Goodluck!
