    Deadlift Input [VIDEOS]

    Hey,

    I've been wanting to review my technique for the deadlift. Consider me a newbie; I'd like all the input I can get!

    Some stuff I already noticed;

    - Keep the head in a neutral position (I'm moving my head up and down because I'm not accustomed to the exercise, it's me being "alert")
    - It feels like my movement is split in two; not sure how to fix it though.

    You can fast forward about one minute into each clip;

    Thanks!

    Lose the straps. How are wrist straps going to help you with grip strength? If you're near your max or last set I can see using them, but any other time don't bother.

    You're trying too hard to maintain a squat position. You aren't squatting, bend your back some more at the beginning. That's why your knees are shooting backwards so fast at the beginning then making you use your back entirely. It's a compound movement. Your legs and back should be working together.

    i agree, work on straightening your knees and your hips at the same time. When your at the bottom position you need to intially push off with your legs (quads) then engage at your hips. both should finish at the same time. also try tightening that back in the bottom position and maintain it through out the lift.

    Start with your hips higher.

    Lower back is rounding.

    How tall are you? You might want to try sumo deadlifts.
