    People take IIFYM way to literal. Obviously it won't hurt to...let's say replace a cup of soda with something else in your diet as long as it fits your macro and calorie needs...but you can't just eat like sht and expect to look good, even if it does fit your macros.     Obviously meal timings matter when you're slamming insulin into you post workout so you can get maximum absorption of nutrients, but how many kids at the gym fit that criteria?

    There are plenty that do... Jay Cutler comes to mind as one of them.

    Of course eating a super "clean" diet isn't going to hurt you, but at the end of the day, they're still following IIFYM - as calorie balance + macronutrient intake is what matters in the long run.

    when you are a top level pro gearing up every day you cant follow IFYM. you have to have everything down to the T if u wanna win. Some people take IIFYM to literal. actually about 90% of the misc does. eating fukin poptarts and ice cream all day errr day and looking like chit. Not saying you cant get shredded off of IIFYM bc you can just some people take it as an excuse

    I think the percentage of IIFYMers who look like **** don't eat the proper amount of calories, therefore they never achieve their goals... has nothing to do with the type of food they're eating.

    IIFYM is perfectly fine for the casual lifter. It seems a lot of pros lose touch with reality. Most people never step on a stage let alone compete on a professional level. There will never be one set of rules that apply to everyone when it comes to fitness/nutrition.
