still lookingD.C. police are looking for a suspect they say shot at least one person at the Washington Navy Yard Monday morning.
According to police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay , there is an “active shooter” on the grounds of the Navy Yard in Southeast Washington.
Clay said that only one person has been confirmed shot, and that person’s condition was not immediately available.
The U.S. Navy said that three shots were fired around 8:20 a.m. at the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building, where about 3,000 people work.
A “shelter in place” order has been issued for Navy Yard personnel, authorities said.

This is a "closed" facility.....someone that either was suppossed to have a weapon, or got one through the check point, or hid one in the facility earlier.....

I don't know how the Navy works, but on Army bases, soldiers don't just walk around locked and loaded. Military Police will, but as for everybody else, their weapons are locked up in their unit arms room 24/7. I'm guessing around this facility there are probably sidearms on some, probably have weapons lockers around or an armory for long guns/pistols. I'm guessing the d.c. navy yard probably has a lot of sensitive areas that have armed guards, likely they have their own 'police' station and I would think that inside some of those areas some of the non-leo military individuals have sidearms as a matter of SOP for that area.Originally Posted by Bushmaster

They have armed patrols with dogs...just like many other closed facilities. They also have protocol where they have additional support ASAP just for this kind of occasion...right now everyone is locked down, no one goes in or out and the area is very hot.Originally Posted by Bushmaster
