Scandinavia is pretty much the model for a utopia based on every measure of societal function and contentment. They just need to sort out their immigration issues, but the USA can hardly fault them on an issue like that.

Yes it is expected of you unless you are on disability. Entry level wages are extremely high. A cashier in Norway often pulls in 40,000 euros or more per year. There are extremely generous terms for maternity and paternity leave and retirement benefits. Taxes are quite high but so are wages so this doesn't irritate people there too much.
