Question Daily Glass of Wine, with binge drinking once a week

Okay so I know drinking a glass of red wine a night will not hurt you as long as you fit it in your macros. I also know that binge drinking one night a week wont do too much harm, (fitting it in your macros or taking the leangains approach) but what if you combined them...drinking one glass of wine a night and binge drinking just one night a week (mostly vodka/seltzers) and doing this weekly....would that be too much alcohol?

Depends on your definition of binge. No one here knows your genetics or knows your lipid values. Get a blood test done, then one done 6 months later and see where you're at. Your bodily organs are quite resilient, especially the liver.

Its a tough one, as the underlying science is so often disputed. In my opinion, I would say dont do it. My gains didnt really pick up until I gave up alcohol, but a lot of other things changed for me then too, so I cant tell for definite.

Some people claim that regularly drinking alcohol can induce the release of estrogen. It seems probable, but every friday and Saturday night, night clubs are full of people who obviously lift, knocking back shots, so id guess it wont stop you gaining but I have a feeling you'll get better gains from cutting it out.

If you're lifting because you want to go pro, then im afraid you should really consider going tee total. Otherwise, enjoy yourself by all means, but dont do it all the time.

I'm only 22, gotta go hard or go home lol....everything else besides this 1 time a week occasion is on point, track macros very carefully, write down my lifts etc....
I just know the benefits of moderate drinking (believe its 1-2 for females, 2-3 for men) every day and I do enjoy some red wine...and i only would have one glass a night since wine gets me buzzed so easily for some reason

I gave up wine in my quest for abs lol but I missed it so much! Reckon I can drink 2 bottles a wk as long as I do cardio to burn it of and I don't notice a diff. Usually over 3 or 4 nites. Gonna try and cut down to 1 bottle but life is stressful! I've gave up takeaways, choc and sweeties... Need a wee bit of naughtiness!!

this isn't rocket science, its priorities man.

Is binge drinking gonna hamper your workout the next day? yes... how much does each one matter to you? I hope nobody is gonna recommend binge drinking and say "your good bro". I understand the age we are in that drinking and partying is what most of us do but if the gym and nutrition is a major priority in your life find a balance. In stead of binge drinking once a week how about once a month? you need to get smashed to have fun? maybe on a night where you have a big day in the gym the next day just have a drink or 2. I'm not saying give up the party lifestyle and stay home, just use common sense man.

One drink a night is probably fine. Binge drinking will undoubtedly affect performance, although it's not going to stop you ever making any progress (it'll make cutting a lot more difficult, though). The negative impact on health is well documented.

It's about deciding how much of your social life you're prepared to sacrifice for better gains or how much you're willing to sacrifice performance for your social life. Personally I do sometimes binge drink, but prefer to let it be dictated by circumstances and occasions than setting a number on how often I can do it.

yeah i get it, well the binge drinking one night a week isnt going away for me, just my enjoyment really. Also MY binge drinking is about 6 drinks I'm pretty much a lightweight, that's about 600 calories since i always get 0 calorie mixers. My question was not how is binge drinking going to negatively effect me, the question was would adding wine (one glass a night) affect performance even more

i am slow bulking btw at 10% over TDEE

Only you can answer that. You want to binge drink once a week and drink a glass of wine everyday. Nobody can predict the outcome.

Have to try for yourself and see your results/monitor your progress.

    GL to you.

Why binge drink if you can't remember whether you had a good time the next day?

A girl who works with my friend always came in hungover, and my friend decided to ask her about it. He asked "well did you atleast have fun doing it?" to which she replied "uhhh I think I did...".

Not worth it IMO, other than drinking lightly for pleasure.
