I'm just getting back into the gym and I wanted to start taking creatine. I used to take pre-workouts in the past, but would I need to take both the pre-workout with the creatine or will that mess me up?

You could take a PWO that has creatine in it (you may need another 1-3g of creatine additional to get your daily 3-5g needed though). No, it will not "mess you up".
D-Stunner can give you very strong energy and focus, while Bullnox can give you clean energy and solid pumps. Both have creatine in them.
If you need some cheap and bulk Micronized Creatine Monohydrate, take a look Betancourt's.++ Positive Crew ++

no reason to take over 5 grams a day of creatine ever. if you are already taking mono, just look into picking up a pre with no creatine in it. A few that come to mind are Uncut, G-Fuel and the new White Flood.
If you haven't tried Uncut yet shoot me a OM with your mailing info and I can get some out to you to try. Or you can pick up a trial bottle for under 10 bucks right now in the store:

It depends on how much creatine is already in your pre-workout, if there's any at all.
Check out Ai sports nutrition maniac. It contains your daily dose of creatine. So you can save your bulk/creatine for your off days!

Axis Labs just released a great new preworkout that has been getting some great reviews. Its called Sma5h It had 180mg caffeine which isn't too heavy for you since you're just getting back into the gym. It'll help you get that extra ummpphhh you need to get going and reach your goals.
There's a special going on at the moment that if you purchase a tub of Sma5h you get a 10 serving container of N'Gage an awesome BCAA product that is great tasting and great for recovery. I'd jump on a PWO even tho you are just starting up again. Sledgehammer by Muscleology is one of the best new PWOs on the market. It's clean and does not have a proprietary blend. The older version of sledgehammer is also on bb.com for sale, $24.75
