Clean bulk debut .. Am i taking the right decision, I hope so.. let me know !

    Hey Guys

I don't know if any of you remember me... I started a thread about 1-2 months with the goal of reaching single digit bodyfat. Sadly, I didn't make it ( some of you told me I was 9-10%, but not clearly under 10% so it represents a fail according to me). I think I cut for too long even if I tried to eat maintenance for a while and restart my deficit, I wasn't able to maintain it and started to binge from time to time ( i should note this is not my type, usually i'm really focus with my diet). Overall, i'm just mentally drained to fight for reaching, without any doubt, single digit bodyfat. I get the feeling that i'm spinning my wheels because I can't put mass during the cutting process and there's probably no better time than now to start my clean bulk with the fact that we are in september.

So, my plan is to go on a clean bulk for 6-7 months with a surplus of 200-300 calories to keep it lean as possible.

    My stats :

    Height : 5'8
Weight: 170 lbs ( water weight should put me at 175-178)

    TDEE: 2400

    Nutrition plan :

-Will be starting at 2600 and adjust from there to gain .5 lbs per week or 1 lbs each 2 weeks.
    - Macros : 170p, at least 70f, what's left split with carbs and fat

    Training :

    - I'm the kind of guy who likes to use scheme workout but always use different exercises ( without taking out the compound)

    - will start with : Workout A Workout B off Workout A Workout B off off

Workout A : chest, triceps, shoulders, abs
Workout B : Legs, back, bis, traps

    - 6-8 sets per bodypart, 10-12 reps ( even want to try 15 for some exercises, have mostly used 4-8 since i started so i'm gonna give high rep a shot)

    Supps :

    - Creatine
    - Preworkout ( no specific one)
    - multi
    - fish oil
    - whey protein ( when needed to reach my protein requirement, but still prefer to eat real food)

So this is my plan. I'm interested to start a log and post progress pics about every 2 weeks, let me know if you would follow me !

This is me as this morning ( a little bloated from yesterday, so I'm a little bit leaner usually). My guess is around 10,5-11%.

Let me know if i did take the good decision to grow and an estimate for my BF would be appreciated. Thanks for reading guys !

Phenomenal physique to start with; sorry to hear about the bingeing, bro.

At the end of the day, it's all about what you want. I know I'll probably sing a different tune a few years from now, but I couldn't imagine wanting to be any more muscular than you already are -- so I'd take a break and SLOWLY cut down to that desired BF%, while still eating all the foods you enjoy.

Either way, excited to see what's next for you.
Started 2012 at over 410lbs (that was as high as my scale went) and I ended the year at 260lbs.

Still going strong while eating whatever I want - whenever I want; I just keep it to under 2000 calories a day.

TEAM IIFYC (if it fits your calories)

Wow thanks for the compliment! Maybe it's just how i see myself, but never i would thought to be THAT muscular. You're the second person that tell me i have a very good physique when i see myself as just above average, surely not as good as you seem to see me! I appreciate! I should note I'm looking for the fitness/athlete look rather than BB look.

Yea bro, if you think you could still do it, keep cutting. You will look impressive when Down to say 8-9% bf. However, if you feel you need or want to bulk then good luck brah.

Thanks for your comment! Honestly, i really know what i want and this is that shredded look (8-9%) but on the other side (call me weak if you want to) i feel so mentally and probably a little bit physically drained with that cut. What's your take on my bf!? I see myself at ~11% and going to 8-9 means at least 1.5 months of cutting. On the other side, if i can't do it now, will i be Able later on as i'm so close but so far at the same time. That's what confuses me.

Those numbers (with # of reps) are pretty impressive for being 170 lbs, let alone being pretty impressive in general. Keep it up man. I would bulk personally. I honestly believe that if you add more muscle mass to your frame, mentally your cut will be easier.
    Don't give up hope.

I know what you mean man. cutting for a long time is soooo draining on the body, physically, and mentally. I cut for 6 months straight and lost 33 pounds. after that I was so done with any idea of restricting food. lean bulk for a while and then when your ready cut again. plus you'll have even more to show off then!

You're looking solid man - and your lifts are impressive at your weight (imo). repped.

I'd agree with 11%bf - so you can definitely go either way. If you want more size bulk up - if you want to be shredded, cut down. If you are tired of the mental stress - stay at maintenance for a bit and recharge. It's not like there's "really" a wrong decision - unless you just quit I guess - otherwise its just whatever route you want to take to reach your goals.

Personally, I wouldn't add more than 5-7.5lbs more lbm (lats, upper chest, shoulders, legs) and I would aim to be 8% bf or so. But those are my goals, and my focus is more bodyweight challenges and aesthetics. Alternatively, if your goal was to compete in bodybuilding though - I'd say bulk . For me, I'm going to cut till thanksgiving (slow), then try and maintain till after the holidays then slow bulk for a couple months till I start a summer cut - that's my plan to hit my goals.

Thanks everyone for your answers! I decided to change my mind and keep fighting for my inital goal then clean bulk.

I want to clean bulk when i'll reach my goal instead of bulking because ' I'm sick of cutting', not a good mental state to start the gain process.

I'll keep you update later on and probably start a log in the losing fat section for those interested in it!

Good luck with your goals guys

    Bump guys !

as recommended by some folks, I decided to keep cutting and honestly, i'm glad I did continue ! I started UD 2.0 and it's working very well right now. I started this 2nd cut attempt at 172 and as this morning, i'm 166.8. Here's a short video of myself when i just woke up after two depletion workouts. today is cardio day and then the carbload will begin tomorrow afternoon. I think i'm getting closer to 10%, let me know what you think.

I'm open to criticism! Don't be too hard on me as i don't know how to pose ( no intention to compete). This video was just to show you my hardwork, to motivate others and or course, myself ! I'll try to put other videos to show you my progress until the end of my cut !

Don't be scare to comment, it motivates me a lot. Hope you'll appreciate, my 1st time posting a video !

    Here's the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5mkZ...ature=youtu.be

    Thanks !
