If this a serious thread?
Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about Agent Orange in Vietnam? Depleted Uranium in Iraq?
Ringing any bells? Any big trains of thought clashing with each other in your head right now?
What about the use of tear gas against peaceful protesters? What about pumping tear gas into a house they know is full of children in Waco, ultimately leading to not only being chemically gassed, but then burned alive as a direct result of the tear gas?
This "red line" bull**** about chemical weapons is just that - bull****. The real reason we are going into Syria, and we ARE going into Syria, is a bit bigger than that.

Tempted to neg. Regardless of who used chemical weapons, it is inhumane and unethical. Unfortunately, it is not the US job to intervene and police the entire world. Our hands are already tied from two wars in the Middle East, lets not dig ourselves deeper.
I refuse to fight a war for ego, especially when all of our allies do not support us in this decision. It would be in our best interest to just let the Middle East figure itself out on its own, it's not worth American lives or spending any more.
There will be a lot of finger pointing and propaganda from the media to try and entice the American public into accepting a strike.Last edited by J-Cubed; 09-07-2013 at 04:22 PM.

sheep
how about deploy all troops to Africa, Middle East, North Korea (just murdered 20,000 prisoners in a slave camp how is that different from WW2?)
fact is nobody else is doing anything either. did killing saddam stop violence in Iraq? is Afghanistan a nice peaceful place you want to bring your kids to now? please go war wont solve ****, I'll give you a breakdown:
invade, occupy, execute leader of country and his chain of command. install puppet government who favors the west. piss off Muslims and civil war breaks out. maintain permanent us bases in the country. spend another trillion dollars on your country MasterCard and spend more in interest repayments then most countries GDP. make a handful of people rich, ruin the lives of 100,000 locals, flat out kill 60,000 more ("casualties of war"), have their families hatred directed to America. you think going to war will be "alpha"??? dumb ******* listen to the rest of the world for once.

Inb4negged but It really irritates me in these threads how people bring up other horrible things going on in the world.
Do you not understand chemical weapons and how they effect the entire planet? That is why they are in talks of intervening, not due to anything else so keep the irrelevant references of any other sh.it going on in the world out of these threads.
And the word "sheep" has lost its meaning, it seems as though the true sheeps are mainly the ones so quick to jump on the conspiricy theorists who post one flawed logic youtube video and immediately refer to it as fact. You are just as much as a sheep as anybody else so quit being fuking hipsters.

Thanks man. I agree with your sentiment, I really do. Unfortunately this really does smack of something that has to run its course, at least as far as our involvement is concerned. I LOVE the thought of going in there and kicking the chit out of whoever gassed and tortured innocents, but I really, really don't like the repercussions.
My feels are simple: The bad FAR outweighs the good here brah, as far as our involvement. Sometimes life deals you pure chit, and you have to take it. Sucks. Maybe if we had allies on it, but *no one* is standing with the US government on this, not even the people, who have been contacting reps at record volume to voice opposition.
[QUOTE=KevinMK0831;1130407943]Finally, a post with some thought behind it. Reps for you.
I agree that we are in extreme debt right now, but really, I don't even see how we can let these people just die. It makes me sick man. They're people. Like us, imagine what happened if they did it to us? This is about mankind, not ethnicity. I think that while Darfur and Rwanda and all the other things going on (Mexico is a huge issue), I think that we need to prove a point about the use of chem. warfare. It's something that is so incredibly dangerous. If we have the power to spend billions on an army, we need to at least use it? I mean, not in the sense of just blowing everyone up but defending people. IMO.
Great post, repped.

stopped reading the thread here. it's always the *******s who wouldn't be going to war who advocate it. if you really gave a ****, you would give up your job and enlist tomorrow. but instead, you'll just live your comfortable life and call for wars fought with other people's lives. really inspiring OP, this must really mean something to you.

Lettuce be real tee. America would be the only one intervening. Only a few countries like Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Israel support intervention and I doubt they would support the us militarily.
In the OP you said that because the UN bans the use of chemical weapons... That the US should attack Syria. How the fukk does that make sense? I'm assuming by we you mean America seeing as Obama is the only one dumb enough to want to do chit there.
Cliffs: let the UN deal with it. If they don't do anything then so be it. That's the whole point of having a security council and voting- bulldog
