Starting my bulk phase.. and also just found out from the doctor that I'm allergic to a **** ton of stuff, including wheat, soy and peanuts. So that makes it a bit more difficult for me to eat enough.. especially with working an 8 hour day.
I'm considering a mass gainer shake for the added calories and convenience of being able to take one or two during work. Any other suggestions? Obviously whole milk, ice cream, etc. It's hard to think of many other calorie dense foods.. specifically cheap ones I can have on the go at work.

Ice cream which is on sale. Pasta. Chocolate. Pretty much everything in the cookies aisle at the super market. Plain white bread. Hamburger Helper using really fatty chuck. Sugary cereal with whole milk (throw some protein powder in there as well). Potato Anna.

Lulz!
OP you can find bagels that don't have wheat in them I'm almost positive of that so bagels with cream cheese would be pretty calorie dense. Also cheeses are solid for adding calories obviously you mentioned whole milk is another good one. Bacon with egg whites is a good breakfast. You didn't mention potatoes so baked potatoes with butter and bacon/sour cream. I don't think you'll need a weight gainer.

Do Almonds count? I know there's a possibility that the almonds were somehow around peanuts but from what I understand you can buy in bulk from farmers who do nothing but almonds so no chance there. If you go that route you can make almond flour, make a bread. That's super calorie dense.
I did pretty good gains on a Keto diet. More fat less carbs. Fat has 9 cals per gram and carbs 4. It's pretty easy to throw in some olive oil into a shake.
For weight gainer I just started trying them myself. I'm experimenting with carbs for a few months before I go back to Keto. I find myself unable to eat enough so I'm adding in some cals as well.
I just started using ON's Serious Mass. It's under $30 for a container. Problem is that if you read it says 8 servings per container and a serving is 2 scoops. The scoop is bascially 1 cup. So 2 cups of powder per serving at 1200 cals. I'm starting with only one scoop until I see if I actually can burn through 1200.

just got a chance to read replies. Thanks to most of you... many suggested items i'm allergic to lol. None of my allergies are serious gonna die allergies.. but none the less I'm staying away from them for obvious reasons. Lots of good suggestions though.
Still, my main concern is getting those calories in on the go, at work, etc. Adding olive oil to a shake is a great idea.. never thought of that. Too much oil bad? Or would I be fine with added a few spoonfuls to a shake?
Also, should I pick up a protein to use as a base for a shake?
I just made myself a little spreadsheet of popular mass gainers, protein, etc to figure out actual calories for your dollar, since price per serving is useless.
The most cost effective ones I found were ON's serious mass, and dymatize super mass gainer at 450 cal/$ and 510 cal/$ respectively.
Milk on the other hand beats out both of these by far at 610/$... but at the expense of needing to chug half a gallon of milk to get those calories.
So it appears to me these mass gainers really ARE cost effective.
Anyone have opinions on the ON and Dymatize? The ON I've tried before but don't really remember the taste.

I would definitely check the ingredients of the gainers before buying one. If you have had ON and you don't react to it I would go with that. But again it might have changed and could have things you are allergic to now in it. I still recc making your own but whatever is more comfortable for you. Picking up a cheap good quality protein like SAN Metaforce or MusclePeak will save you a bunch and both make for some delicious homemade shakes. GL Op!
