Too bad I live a million miles away. This looks to be good; I hope someone will film it. I really feel that Dan's approach is super helpful and original in many ways--especially when it comes to raw lifting.
637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.
600/370/600 - best competition lifts.
575/330/560 - best competition lifts at 181 raw.

After seeing a hard workout you may want to complain and want others to pity you for the work you have to do. Your mom will pity you. Your girl will pity you. I may pity you, but your competition will not pity you. They will step on you, walk over you and spit on you. Boris Sheiko

I train there and don't worry, we will be filming the ABC & the seminar plus other footage of Dan Green training that weekend. It will most likely be up on the Animal Pak youtube channel:

hnnggg it's being filmed. I swear once I use supplements I will support Animal because they support our sport and not in just some half-assed way. They film stuff, do cool **** like this and the cage and put it all out for FREE! And they're very good to their athletes. I think they'll definitely be a part of the reason why PLing grows. So thanks Animal.
I love Dan Green's style of explaining, teaching, being ****ing huge and cool.

So I went to this on Sunday. The Q&A was pretty typical (aka guys asking the worst questions possible) but I still walked away with a lot of good points.
- Sumo pulling from blocks is more efficient for building the sumo deadlift than pulling from the floor because you don't accumulate as much fatigue
- He has no idea how many calories he takes in a day and really devotes no energy to thinking about his nutrition. He has his own nutritionist through Universal and follows his plan exactly. He also had a half gallon of chocolate milk next to him the whole time.
- (When asked about straps) You need to strike a balance between training heavy enough to stimulate your grip strength but not so heavy that you start cutting into your recovery. This is where straps come in.
- Beginners can use a lot of assistance work for hypertrophy, he followed a general bodybuilding split for many years. Now for powerlifting he's optimized his program so that he's basically just squatting (back/front/hack), pulling (convo, sumo and blocks) and benching (regular and pause) with very little else.
- Building your quads through hack and front squats gives you carryover to both squat and deadlift. The bench doesn't receive as much attention because it's a much smaller proportion of his total (22% or so).
- He uses a mostly linear periodization approach leading up to meets. He pulls conventionally during off season blocks but wants at least 12 weeks to pull sumo prior to competition.
I'll probably think of more later.IG: @toadkillerdog

I've actually heard this advice from quite a few successful raw lifters. That beginners should start with something closer to a bodybuilding split and narrow their focus towards powerlifting as they get bigger. This is exactly the opposite of the typical advice you get from the masses but is slowly becoming a popular approach.

lol Got negged for this post with the following comment: "Get your ****ty Canadian advertisements off. Did you not receive good enough grades to go to a college in the US for grad school?"
These boards are just fascinating at times.
Back on topic, Dan Green is one of my favorite lifters. Looking forward to the vids from the seminar!
