Lobster at a fine dining restaurant is worth dying for. Tastes amazing if done right.

Doesn't change the fact that it was poor man's food. The preparation is irrelevant. It's not like the plebes got the leftovers after those prime tails and claws were removed - the lobster itself was considered poverty food. Successful
Marketing turned it around. I can see it in modern times with Tilapia - insipid poverty fish is popping up on menus everywhere seasoned and priced to high heaven in order to increase that profit margin.Always Pick #4

Lobster is great when cooked well, I just think that usually only the high end chefs make it tasty enough to be worth it for me. Usually I just prefer crab legs, especially king or cajun style with lots of butter, motherofgod.jpg

I like lobster has a nice taste to it but I only get it like once a year at The Keg (steak and lobster for like 45 bucks)
on its own its a little bland you kind of need the butter too. crab legs are also good, so is shrimp and scallops. you could argue crab legs lack flavor and also argue the same for shrimp but what they are served with makes the meal and it's a nice dish once a year or so.

never even eaten lobster' -crew
we are all from nothing to something and then back in to nothing when we cease to be, the middle ground is that tiny something we call life which is just a sunset setting in, yet we chose to see it like a sand clock dragging on for what feels like a thousand eternities, what makes the difference is how we live that tiny middle of shifts, rejoice and embrace the most of it for the short lived moment often goes by wasted .-

Really? Your argument is that the preparation of food doesn't matter when it comes to taste? Especially considering you're trying to argue that it USED TO BE considered low status food solely because of it's abundance...
Why is it so expensive now? Supply and demand. You can argue that you don't like it all day, but clearly enough people feel the opposite to warrant the prices."Originally Posted by dr. hamstrung
