today's gym effort. i got a two plate squat. i think its a passable gym effort. i got parallel for a fraction of a second, but i doubt it would get white lighted.
still!
i've been seriously dieting since mid may. at that time my squat max was 205. who says you cant gain strength while cutting? KILL IT!!!

oh god i know. i squat morning'd the **** out of that. haha! 1rm are never perfect, but this one was bad. i still freaking got it though, so im happy.
i had two issues. 1. my bar placement is too high. 2. ive never used a belt before and really should have given myself more time to get used to it before attempting a max.

Hey Y'all! I figured I'd go ahead with my intro.
I'm Crystal, I go by punkycindy on here because I loved punky brewster as a kid and have always loved cindy lauper. I'm a mom of two and I work from home. I've been at this a while now. My heaviest weight was 245 and I've yoyo'd a bit over the last couple years but I'm 60 lbs down from my heaviest weight right now and when I lose 60 more I'm going to bulk. My ultimate goal is the spartan death race, but I've got to get more fat off before I start training for that.
Alright now y'all, lets hear it, what's your story?Hi, I'm Crystal :)

Ill go! Chris from east coast. I'm 40 And 5'10 190 and have a passion for mountain and road cycling. At 190 it's a tad heavy to keep up with the weight weenies on the climbs so I need some motivation. In the winter after this comp (and after road cycling season) I am going to bulk. I'd like to start my bulk at 165 and add on 10 pounds of muscle. Ill still be light for biking and yet look good on the beach. I don't want to look like a power lifter, just in shape. Maybe some abs. 15% bf wouldn't be bad. Next!

Cheers Crystal for starting this up!
I'm B. 6'2"... 238. I'm athletic but have always had the extra layer. Got in great shape for my wedding a year ago (down to about 215 and was doing sets of pull-ups). Was also benching 250-260. I need to get back to that.
After the wedding, obviously a little lack of motivation. Want to get back to feeling/looking great and being strong, flexible, and in-shape. I've been trying to get some momentum for awhile now. I'll make some progress and get down to 227-230, then reward myself with a few cheat days even when I haven't accomplished much. I've basically stayed between 230-240 all year despite wanting to get down to 210-215. Hoping getting on here for support and competition will keep me on track.
My weakness is craft beer. It's a gateway drug for me. Once the beer starts flowing, the pizza/nachos/bar food is soon to follow. And of course, more beer. It's just so God damn good. I have done better avoiding it the past couple weeks. I want to keep that up and stay away from alcohol in general for the most part. I feel like that will tear down such a barrier for me to make great progress.
I'm 31. It's time to stop thinking about getting in shape and planning how I'll do it. It's time for me to just put in the effort I need to see a change. This will be it.

I guess I'll go next.
I'm Tony, a 5'7 manlet here at 224lbs :/
I ballooned up a few years ago to 255 and have been slowly losing weight on and off. I've decided to stop procrastinating and put a full fledged effort this time.
I went from 230 to 180 in 09 by basically doing a lot of cardio and eating vegetarian with my friend. I met another childhood friend at the gym and realized that his 140lb was benching A LOT more than me. So I started to lift a lot more, neglected cardio, and had a really bad diet. I was a bit too focused on trying to get my bench weight up each week (and all that gave me was stretch marks -_-)
Not looking to be a bodybuilder or anything, I just want an athletic and useful body. (I've come to terms with my height and that I'm A LOT shorter than the normal population out there, so being nimble will help me a lot more in a fight than brute strength lol)
So this time around I'm going to be doing cardio, lift heavy, and keep my diet in check. Hopefully I can keep track of my journey through this thread.
Going to aim to be in the best possible shape by my bday in Jan.

I'm in on this. What's up, everyone?
I am Reuben. 5'7 - 150 lbs.
I lost 10 lbs. for about 6 weeks. Had days where I screwed up and ate a lot so it took me 6 weeks to lose 10 lbs.
My goal is to lose my fat belly. I aim to have 10% body fat and then do a clean bulk for as long as I want 'til I reach about 15% body fat.
Tho, I don't have any idea what my body fat % is. I don't have quite muscles yet too. Started bodybuilding with a cut.
Good luck to everyone!S: 185

216lb to 182lb from June to end of August. Then I ate cookies and lots of mixed nuts the last 2 days, it was a real tough week with letting go of a dream girl
So I'm 184.4 right now. Going for 10% BF which probably will be in the 150-160 range. If I stuck it all in I look skinny with decent arms, just not much else. I'm the guy with major lower back problems, so I can't do a bunch of stuff. Too bad, I would go all out otherwise, more towards athletic than a body builder type.

Not sure if I'm suppose to be keeping a log or not, but I might as well post here (its the only thread I've actually responded to)
I know its not the 6th yet, but I figured I should get into the habit of running. Just went for a little jog outside my house for around 40-45 mins. I stopped to catch my breathe a lot more than I wanted to, but I know that I can only get better from here out
Hope everyone is doing well!

A real bad thing though is I can't lift or even walk much for now, I need to rest my back and have it ready on "standby" to handle some non-fitness responsibilities...so this will be a bad month since its harder to stay on track calories wise by just cutting food.
Its easier to eat X cals and burn enough for a good deficit.......than just eat 500-1000 under a no activity maintenance

Put me down for another cardio session, Crystal.

Some of you know me from the June-September Challenge that just completed.
I'm Tony, I live in South St Louis, MO. My username is a mix of my first and last name, the 04 I've been using since '04 (duh, right?). I'm a project manager for a major web hosting and utility computing company based in St Louis and mainly work early to mid morning (EMEA hours).
My current weight is about 345 (down from 427 on 13 May 13). My goal for this challenge is to get as close to 300 as possible. To get for fit (I'm already able to get 4.08 miles on the heathen, devil elliptical) and to look even better for my new romantic interest that has come into my life over the past 60 days (1st time I've loved anyone since I lost my fiancee on 9/11/01).
I'm feeling the best I have in 12 years, my biometric numbers are amazingly healthy for a 345 lb dude (BP, Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Blood Glucose). I'm ready to kick this in to high gear. One word that doesn't reside in my vocabulary is "Quit"...I will not quit....if I quit, that means I'm dead or dying . "No Retreat, No Surrender"

Good morning!
I'm Kristen. From MASS (near the cape..about an hour from Boston). I'm happily married for 17 years...3 kids (15,13, 11) and 1 dog (jack Russell). I'm a stay at home mom for the most part but I do house cleaning for the past 7 years. I have my own clients and pick my hours.
I've lost and gained a few times over the years. Most notable going from 223 to 146 in 2005. I did it on a fad diet and rebounded when I started eating normally again.
This time is for good and foods and exercise that I can maintain forever.
Started at 249.6 in Aug of 2012 and am currently 200.2 (so close).
I don't usually set weight loss goals because scale weight isn't linear and the scale lies...it goes down when you've not been good and stays the same or goes up when you've been an angel. So...I just keep swimming. Head down and get the work done.
My current plan is 3 days weights (ICF 5x5) and 3 days cardio (1 hour steady state). 1 day rest. Cals...I'm on an aggressive cut right now 1272 for 6 days than 1 day at maintenance (around 2200). Until the hungry horrors (hormones) tell me different , I will try this to cut some weight quick. I will report my findings. LOL.
Good luck everyone, in your goals.
1st day of school for my kiddies....so I will make them French toast and sausage (by request) and send them off happy (full and nervous). Then I have a cardio day and 1 house to clean. I have some housework to do here at home, too so I suspect a busy day. Running around after for football practice and Mma.
Keep your eyes on the prize!!
Kristen

Suppose I should add an intro as well.
Name is Kris, both my wife and I have been at this weight loss thing since '12.
For me, I had always been a "big" kid and never grew out of it. Both my wife and I put on ~100lbs +/- from when we first met. 2 big breaking points for me:
1. Too big to go on the rides at the local carnival.
2. My back. I had a lumbar fusion in '05?(might have been '04) and have 14 screws and 2 rods in my lumbar spine. It never bothered me until winter '11. I couldn't figure it out.... changed the bed.... changed everything. Part of it was denial and one day I sucked it up and stepped on a scale. 308.6lbs @ 23 years old. I changed my habits that day. I had failed in the past because I was looking for a "quick fix". To date, I have gone from size 48 jeans to size 32's and have lost over 100lbs(bounced back up a bit and have again taken most of that off) and my wife has lost ~90.
In it for the long haul.
Nice to meet all you folks

Hi there. 22 years old. Started training when I was 16, never serious with food. Decided to transform when I was 20 (have been overweight since being a little kid), got fanatic with food, after few months, kissing disease/mono hit me, not able to sport, go to school, hang out with friends, it turned into chronic fatigue, depressed at home, study delay still not able to sport/go much outside, went to different docs, noboby able to help me. Now I am in treatment for chronic fatigue, and trying to rebuild my life. One part of this is training again/getting in shape, so that is why I am here. Also decided that I don't want to continue with the study path, and decided to give a shot at what I love: nutrition. So I want to help people losing fat for a living. I realize you have to be a good role model, so that is another motivation for getting in shape. If you want to know more about my food next few months, check out my thread. Now enjoying a holiday, so will start 100% strict 14th september. That said, doing every morning 20 minutes swimming here and following food schedule as much as possible. Hope we can make this one big success, gl everybody.
