The Israelis recently hit some anti-ship missiles.

Also one way of knowing for sure that Assad has some S-300's (S-400's are purely speculation on my part), is that the US is not launching an air campaign. Bombing the sh!t out of third world countries with B-52's and B-2's is America's standard MO in these types of situations.

The fact they're opting to use cruise missiles instead speaks volumes.

This one might actually happen.. Considering the consequences of stepping on so many toes, this may actually turn ugly. I doubt it will escalate very far but the countries supporting Syria will have to make SOME kind of posturing move obviously in retaliation.

So many innocent people are going to die if US launched missiles. It is impossible to avoid collateral damage. It will be just as bad as the gas attack in Syria. Except it will be instant, no dead bodies, just fire and everything burnt to ****.

The UN collectively does not condone the use of chemical weapons. If the UN decides on punitive action, Russia will have to deal with it.

Russia is truly a non factor. I don't understand the arm chair generals that worry about Russia, at all...

Russia would only ever be an issue if we tried to invade Russia in conventional warfare.

They are part of the select few fueling the hornets nest for monetary gain. They couldn't care less about the ME except for monetary gain.

Russia's economy couldn't handle a full scale war. Not that the US could either right now really. But they're not the super power they once claimed to be.

for security council action the 5 permanents have to be unanimous in the decision to act

And Russia has said they do not believe there is enough evidence to say Assad did it - they think it was rebels

So Russia can effectively veto UN security Council sanctioned immediate action

The General assembly could do it without russia but its not fast acting like the SC
